HaHa... i think you're getting confused. I don't get passed due to my superior skill, Porsche owners would rather ram you off the road than let you pass because of their inferiority complex  :flame:

Wow, did you know that Porsche was going to dive down the inside near the end of the video there?

Yep, that's why I stayed out to let him through.

At the obligatory briefing, we are all told never to indicate except prior to pit entry and to hold the ideal line and let faster cars find their own way past.

That's the theory. In practice, if you use your mirrors (a little difficult at times in the Exige), you can let the faster cars through without anyone being compromised.

At least, at this track day there where no single seater/ Formula cars. They are so small and quick thta you really have to have your wits about you.

The good thing about these relaxed rules is that you can have fantastic tussles – take a look at this!

>vs. racing M5 & 911<

My bro has given up doing track days in the UK – he says it is so over-organised that is simply not worth the effort. Sold his Ginetta and now enjoys flitting about in a Brabus Smart Roadster-Coupé – far more fun even at licence-safe speeds – so he claims...

What kind of brakes do you have on the Exige? I am considering different brake options for Hockenheim.

I found the stock setup on the N/A was fine, within its limits. When I put Pagid RS4s on with the stock N/A discs, it cooked the discs first time at Hockenheim. Cooling ducts would be my first move on a Speedster.

On the Exige I have bigger, grooved and crossdrilled Tarox discs and bigger area Mintex 2500 pads in the stock callipers, along with cooling ducts.

They are excellent. (The 4-pot APs are not road-legal here in Switz.).

Sounds like a good budget solution. Plans have some ali belled bigger disks for ca £580 that could be ideal for a similar setup on the Speedster.

Did you have to modify the bigger pads to fit in the stock caliper?

AFAIK, they were a straight fit.

My dealer's top mechanic designed the bigger discs – had an agreement that he wanrted the exclusive sales rights for Switz. and what they did elsewhere was fine with him.

As far as the pads go, at first I ran it on stock sized pads but he has now been able to get these new ones from Mintex that cover an extra 1cm or so width on the inn er side of the disc. No idea what the order number is...

Funny you should mention that...

No, seriously, the car is so well-balanced and forgiving when you get it out of line that you can take it by the scruff of the neck and throw it around the track – very much like the VX N/A in fact (and unlike the Tubby).
