Hello evrybody, I am new on this forum and I am french, sorry for my english ... I would like to adapt on my VXT, lotus S2 light fuel tank sold by elisepart. This modification leads to earn 6-7 kg versus OEM VXT fuel tank. Did anybody already make this modification ? I saw on this forum photos of dismantled VX (for race preparation), is it possible to get photo of OEM VX or VXT fuel tank in order to compare with S2 tank ?

thank you Marco polo for these drawings, I am a little bit worried, because fuel pump connection is not exactly the same of S2, as shown in S2 manual parts. Best regards Chris

I have considered such mod a while ago, but the mounts seemed different, so I set it aside...
now, looking at the piccies again, they don't seem so far away...

Hello Rikky (you are my hero) I have already E-mail to elisepart for ask them pieces of information. So, fuel tank shown on your photo is a elise S1 fuel tank. They said me, S2 fuel fuel tank is different, please find copy of part of elisepart mail : "The prices of my S2 fuel tanks are a lot more than the S1 as they are much more sophisticated and difficult to make, prices are 385 gbp." But, capacity of S2 fuel tank is 36 l (same as speedster) . I think the elise fuel tanks is suitable (with may be some minor modifications) to the speedster (sorry VX220) 6-7 kg earned it is a good deal. PS : At date my own VXT with full tank (but without driver) weight 916 kg. but I will continue to follow the way your have opened ... Imnotworthy Chris

If i remember, Dude who is making the race speedster/vx, is having a lightweight fuel tank made - it will be cheaper if more than one is made :) Oh and welcome Chris - but keep away from Ricky!!! :P

Yes, I know well myspeedster.ch forum Infortunately, when ask (as visitor) some technical questions I get rarely valuable reply. I think this forum is designed for artists : example of matter treated : "war of color", etc Moreover, I noted some sectarianism against VXT owners, when VXT appears ... So, as conclusion, all valuable technical information I can get, for modifying my VXT, I found it on this forum. I think VX220 forum is the best for me (I do not speak german) It the reason why decided to register here. Best regards

Oh and welcome Chris - but keep away from Ricky!!! :P

Too late!

Just looked at Chris's profile – he's already got the OZ Superleggeras and Yoko 048's :D

It's a slippery slope from there with no going back!

BTW, welcome Chris. I agree with you that vx forum is tops. Gisou's site is good for videos though. If you spoke German, you would find that there is a fair amount of technical discussion on the german site too, but they are sometimes a bit hyper and authoritarian. (Why am I not surprised? :P )

That's enough stirring for today I think. B)

I can confirm that elise S2 light fuel tank sold by elisepart is suitable to be implemented on VXT or VX. I only add two venting pipes (if you remove fuel tank venting system new fuel tank can be implement without modification). Hole for fuel pump and other filling and venting hoses connection are identical. So, I can summarize this modification as follow : OEM fuel tank weight : 11,2 kg New lightweight S2 with new venting pipes weight : 6 kg difference fuel tank capacity : to be determined (my Opel dealer does not followed my procedure to determine exact capacity of new fuel tank). Price of lightweight S2 fuel tank : 385 £ (excluded taxes) Time to replace existing tank by new one : 6 hours Conclusion : Expensive solution to earn 5 kg, but I do not regret and I will continue in this way ... You could find hereafter photos of this modification OEM fuel tank
