yep the replacement is due to my spring platforms not wanting to be there anymore...... surely its worth giving vauxhall a jab in the ribs about that. im happy to slap a bit of preventative grease/lube on the shock bodies than pay over double for nitrons that i cant honestly see being "that" much better in terms of handling if you had both types setup on the same springs, valve rates etc...

Hi mate.... wondering if you bought the Sachs/Spax and what you thought of them? I really want Nitrons but i just can't afford them.

We've now done a fair bit of testing on all three set up and they are all different. As soon as I get time to write them up I will, but bottom line is that the Sachs are the best in terms of budget and road bias, the KW's are a good middle ground but Nitron still overall best in terms of dynamics and build quality.

not got any suspension as yet... managed a walshy day without the platfords dropping on me lol.

did get rear wheel -> liner scrubbage though with std suspension and TD wheels...... me thinks exige billies would do the trick as it will raise the car a touch.

ummmm no offence but surely an INDEPENDANT test would be better since they appear to have come out of the test in order of cost..... which in turn makes you more money (potentially)...

Actually no, in terms of percentage profit the Nitrons are the lowest, with KW next. We make 'most' on the Sachs. In terms of actual £££ they work out with the Nitrons lowest and KW and Sachs the same. We simply found the Sachs most road friendly as they were softer damping and softer spring rates. The Nitrons are stiffest and KW's in between. The main difference between them all is that the KW's and Sachs run identical spring rates for the VXT and the NA and the Nitrons don't, of course I'm biased, I did do all the set up with with Nitron when they were first developed, hence the different spring rates. If someone wants a lowered look and better handling (in that order) then I'd reccommend the Sachs, if someone wants better road handling then they all do the job well, if someone wants better track handling then I'd recommend the Nitrons or KW. The KW's take longer to fit as they need the brackets adapting to accept the wider mounting points and we've found they are noisier in terms of damper noise.

so in that respect you "could" whip a bit off the sachs price to make them more apepaling then the spax setup......... or do sachs take part in that lovely game of price fixing like most other parts manufacturers do.

How much are Sachs? & how much including fitting? (I can't see them mentioned on tms site) How much do they lower the car by? (I'm looking for 25mm) Rough guestimate of the life-expectancy of a set of Sachs for road use only? :)

prices i was quoted from plans supplier (and probably the same supplier to thorney) was £650+ vat.... fitting well erm I'd be DIY'ing it so at worst £80 (how i charge myself for work is £10 per hour... Very cheap), but from a business.... erm make that a billion quid. as for life expectancy..... all this stuff varies, even nitrons have their faults lol. I'd say an inspection every year and maybe a refurb every 2 years at a guess. depends on your milage too (I do about 15-20K a year)
