i've never had a problem with coolant in the past. i was parked on a hill (nose up) and the red coolant light stayed on for 10 seconds or so. once i moved the car to a level section of the drive, it went off. yesterday i changed the oil and plugs. i checked the water and there didn't seem to be a problem. where are the most likley places for leaks or can water in the coolant system just evaporate?? thanks for the help. liam. :grouphug:

Can you visibly tell that you've lost some? Common places would be the header tank (any small cracks around the connections, is it yellowing etc) the hoses either side of the radiator leaking, or the radiator itself, can you smell evaporating coolant all all

it did seem a little low... i mean a fraction.

i have not checked the header tank closley, but it is not yellow.

i've checked the rad hoses and they seem to be holding pressure.

there is no water dripping ubder the car.

i'll double check the header tank tomorrow, maybe i'm just paranoid

Normal level when cold is on the seam half way up the bottle. Light coming on could have been caused by parking on a slope and the float in the tank sticking.

thanks ian.

do you think that it would be worth getting a pressure test done?

Mate.....the coolant light probably came on because you were parked uphill. If there was a sensor problem it wouldn't fix itself because you were now on flat ground - would it?! :P
