In simple terms the further they extand out from the body, the longer they extent down to the floor the more effective they are. Look at DTM cars.
I have the Jimsan Diffuser. I noticed the car was a lot less 'skitish' up over 100 leptons (private roads and tracks). Jimsans Diffuser sticks out about 6 inches at it max point from the flush face of the rear clam.

It would good to hear from owners who have had heat problems and with which particular diffuser and what they've done about it. How many have been taken off? My JimSan seems ok although I have got fairly big spacers to create an airgap.John i see that you mentioned heat build up on some other designed rear diffusers?
I dont supose you could pm me which ones these were as i was going to buy one this week,

Just wondering, did you ever fit some brackets similar to the below:

As you probably know, without these , the diffuser does flex somewhat. Maybe when forces are acting on it without these brackets it is forcing the clam nearer to the exhaust? As you say though it could be related to the extra heat of the extra horses (I assume it does run hotter

Yep fitted those

As i say it is only when used in extreme conditions on track (particularly Croix & Abbeville) where the car sits in the high rev band in 3rd gear for most of the time.
I know that Nick also had similar problems with his as well so it may well just be a SC thing

They are aluminium spacers to try and create a bit of a gap above the diffuser and help airflow from the holes underneath the rear clam which the diffuser largely blocks. ChazUwe's picture shows a stay which is mounted either side of the diffuser to brace the bottom of the clam and reduce viabration and flexing. The spoiler is satin black, same as the VXR colour (allegedly).what's those four things on top of diffuser for? Has anyone strengthen the above diffuser from vibrating?
And what color did you used for the spoiler?

I've taken the decision to take mine off due to heat build up
higher oil temps or melting bits? Didnt notice any issues on mine after a couple of track days in august (were faster tracks)

Nothing too dramatic - just a discolouring of the paint around the exhaust pipes -- no problems earlier in the year at Snetterton or at Rockingham - decided to play safe since i do like Abbeville & Croix but they do seem harder on the car
