If so, the one you want is an HKS evc 6 (called the 5 in japan for some reason). It is stepper motor controlled, not solenoid.

Thats what we have.

Nice summary of how boost controllers work.

well i fitted the blitz sbc dual solenoid but still cant seem to nail a stable boost it tends to spike all the time ,but when it over boosts it still put the car into
limp mode and the car will not boost at all ,so the ecu can still control the turbo {it feels like it opens the dump valve}no engine check light came on because i did'nt disconnect the factory
controller,i also changed the actuator and still the same

the SBC is still solenoid operated though so could be the problem that adam described above as its either open or closed...

Adam M - hurry up and buy a VXT, fit the boost controller, confirm it holds boost well, and then let us know :D

not sure what the hell is going on there. overboost fuel cut is a function of the standard ecu. Either you raise it electronically, or disconnect the way in which it is sensing the excess pressure. I am not sure how the vx220t set up does this. I must admit I haven't got a clue how you managed to properly install the blitz whlist leaving the standard plumbing in place since the new solenoid or stepper motor has to replace the old solenoid. I was suggesting leaving the old electrical connection in place if you are concerned about a CEL, but disconnect the pneumatic connections. I have to say, unless you know what you are doing, even when the installation of a boost controller is spot on, they are damn hard to set up from the instructions. It takes a lot of practice and experience. I would only ever leave that to people who have done them many times before, especially with the more complex ones. Guy, give me a chance, am still sitting on the fence, but I can promise you, the ability to hold boost is only dependent on the model you buy and how well it is installed and set up. The fact that its a vx or a vxr or a impreza or whatever will make no difference so long as you have pressurised air coming in from the compressor housing and going through a solenoid/stepper motor to a wastegate.

Use an Apexi boost controller on my black bullit: (not sure if I have all words translated correct)

VXT 4948 (registered 10/2004) Z20LER engine
GT2871 turbo, charge cooler
Vmax EVO400 software
Bigger oilpump, extra oilcooler, piston-bottom-oil sprayers
Stronger rods, performance pistons
Aggresive camshaft
High capacity fuel pump
Bigger fuel injectors
Steel flywheel
Removed balance-axes, Astra LEH groundplate incl. the oil absorber
Apexi Boost controller
Apexi airfilter, inlet airchannel 100/80mm, no air mass meter
Short belt altenator
70mm exhaust, 200-cell racecatalytic-convertor
Flowed cylinderhead, Natrium filled valves
Waterinjection, ERL programmable

This engine produces an incrible smooth 411 BHP. The boost controller does its job perfect. The only time I change the settings is for the yearly mandatory check where I reduce the boost from 1.85 back to 1.40
It comes with a nice graphical display where you can adjust boost pressure when your're driving.

Other mods on the car include:
Sachs raceclutch
Quafe LSD
Racelogic traction control, digital adjuster

Ohlins 2-ways
Steel brakelines
AP big brake, four-pot 308mm front, PAGID RS-15
Hi-spec, lightweight two-pot 320mm back. PAGID RS-42
Magnesium Speedlines satin-black 5-spoke
195/50R16 Yokohama A048R, 225/45R17 Yokohama A048R

4-point harnes, OMP Carbon steering wheel
VXR Alcantara seats
Blaupunkt navigation radio, Dension Ipod interface, IR controls
Scangauge-II, DriftBox and vehicle tracking system
Fire extinguisher (fixed tubing, electronic controlled)
No more seatbelt tensioners, no more airbag
Lotus Stack, 8000rpm

CF mirros, small internal mirror
CF roof 4,3kg , CF motorhood
CF rear wing, CF front splitter
GEL leightweight accu
BI-XENON, LED lamps
52 liter fueltank integrated catchtank
ABS can be switched off
Cruise control

And, most important, this is completely street-legal!

[/quote] hi mate i do have a farly good idea of fitting and setting up boost controllers up,i left the plug in the original factory controller so it wouldnt set off the engine light, but diconected the pipes and connected the blitz boost controller to them
