If loose wiring can be the culprit, where are the electrical connections I should be looking at?
The TIS has full wiring diagrams so you should be able to track it down.

It's likely to be the harness between A1 and R1, connector X20. It's worth a check.

Hi,
My airbag light has been on since I bought my VX and I've finally bought an ELM323 USB adaptor to reset it. I've tried using freeware programs called wODB and OBD II Logger, neither of which report any error codes present.
When I try to reset anyway, I get a click from the engine bay but the light stays on.
My questions are:
Why is the light on without showing an error code?
What sensors on the car trigger this light? I've read posts which suggest loose wiring, but where are the electrical connections I should be looking at?
Am I using the most suitable software?
Are there any manuals or tutorials available to help me get the most out of the ODB software/information?
Many thanks.
Hi, I had the same problem when I bought my VXT, airbag light on, tried to reset light wouldn't reset!
Problem was with the inertia set belts, they have a sensor to tighten belts in "on impact", once they have been activated that’s it they need replacing. Apparently there is a cheap fix, and that is to solder two resistors in the circuit, one for each side, L/R to fool the system to think all is okay. I have seen post on here, so ask size of resistor and exactly where it can be found. I went for the dear option and had sensor replaced! Still have to reset light once sensor/ resistor fitted.
Hope this helps

Have anyone had any luck resetting SRS-light with an ELM OBD-reader?
Or what do one need to reset the SRS oneself?
I don't think so. As far as I know only a genuine dealer TECH2 device can communicate with the airbag ECU and reset the warning light (assuming there isn't actually a real problem that needs fixing first).

I don't get that - my seat belts have locked several times, so what's the difference between locking then and as a result of a major impact? Can't be any surely. So how come my airbag light isn't on?Problem was with the inertia set belts, they have a sensor to tighten belts in "on impact", once they have been activated that’s it they need replacing

The inertia locking bit is separate and is designed to lock and then obviously release in normal driving. In the event of an accident the seatbelt pre-tensioners actually tighten the seat belt and pull you back into the seat automatically, as soon as the impact sensor senses a heavy enough impact.

Ohhhh
Where is the impact sensor?
i think its build into the airbag module, which is likely to be under the dash.
john
edit: think this is probably it, although i may be wrong. http://www.speedster...unit/index.html
edit again!: this will probably also be linked into the system some way through the ECU http://www.speedster...pump/index.html

i think your right! mine is on due to me turning in the ignition with it disconnected! thing is i know betterI have the same problem, but im 99% sure it is down to me re-connecting the battery when the airbag was not connected! I need a tech2 now to clear the code/light.
Anyone got any ideas how much Vauxhall would charge me for this?
