Has anyone tried the PIAA silicon wiper blades? They're horrendously expensive but are they actually worth it?

I've got to admit that I didn't notice any difference to normal wipers, but then again I applied rain-x every time I washed the car so maybe that meant I couldn't see the impact that the wipers themselves were having. As you can't get curved 24" ones (and the 22" I had limited the view out the front a little bit - for no obvious benefit as already mentioned) I'd go for curved 24" non-PIAA ones if I were you.

I have one. I like it. Dont know how much it compares cost wise to a normal wiper, think it was about £20 though. Dont know how it performs compared to a normal wiper either as mine was shot when I bought the car.

I have a 22" curved one too - I'm really happy with it so far and will continue to purchase them. Although next time, I will buy the 24" flat blade (the curved doesn't come in 24") because I find the areas that the 22" doesn't reach annoying. The pack advises that you clean the screen before each journey, use the wiper dry (to recoat the screen with silicone) occasionally, and don't use it when the screen is icy. I suspect if you all of those things the wiper would be even better. I do however find the beading really off-putting - the drops create weird and interesting shapes as they are pushed up the windscreen, which distract me

Better than standard wipers. Mine's lasted a year and now smears occasionally so I'll get another soon. Expensive, but I'll pay a small premium for great visibility.

I also think they are great. I use rainex as well, but the piaa ones pull the pants off the standard ones! They are worth the extra cash, and seem to last a lot longer!

I have had one for nearly 2 years. The little sachet of silicon goop that comes with it is well worth looking after. I resealed it carefully and re-applied a couple of times. It seems to extend the useful life of the blade and works really well at giving a super clear screen. As with all wiper blades it depends entirely on how you treat it in use. Scraping it across a barely damp but dirty screen will shorten its life substantially. Use sparingly and only when there is enough moisture to give it some work to do. I find at high speed the screen self cleans - air pressure forces the water up and away over the roof and onto the side windows. PIAA best wiper blade I have ever bought but also the most expensive by far.

7" curved. B) Oh.. wiper blades. Agreed the 22" silicone one a bit short, though generally fine. Found it brilliant at first but now have a huge smudge area, that even a windscreen wash spraying doesn't remove. Think regular Rain-X treatments necessary.

I don't think it is worth the extra money went for the 24" straight but in very cold weather it misses half the screen until things have warmed up. The 22" curved may be better but is to short. Might try one of the VW aero style blades next time. Cheers Oakmere
