I can only think that I'm using the wrong screenwash....

This evening I couldn't see jack for the smears

How long have you had it? Perhaps it needs replacing, or maybe try a dry run to recoat the screen with silicon? :)

Another alternative - Sparco aero blades, clip straight onto the VX works beautifully, has a considerable curve.

The PIAA silicone wipers are now available with a spoiler: http://www.speeding....ack_SPORZA.html

Also available in carbon  : http://www.speeding....bon_SPORZA.html

I searched for 'sporza' and there were no results, so I'm not sure whether anyone else has tried one. I'm going to order one and give it a go :)

Well, finally got around to fitting the above PIAA Sporza wiper. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, to see if the Sporza-specific claims are proven. But I think it looks good - was worried it might look chavvy, but I think it looks much better - more substantial - than the weedy-looking 'ordinary' PIAA wiper (and no obvious branding - you get an optional sticker  ):

I'm not convinced the spoiler was a good choice. Our cars only have the one blade, stating the obvious i know, but becaus of that it is effectively upside down when its over the drivers side. Thus whith the direction of air flow at speeds it will be generiting lift on the wiper arm and could see it lifting off the screen. On the other hand i have a 22" curved and will never buy another standard wiper again. The Bosch and halfrauds ones need changing yearly, I had my last silicone one for 2.5 years, it still didnt squeak, it was still supple and still didnt leave any water on the screen. Replaced it with a new identical one after the little plastic clip holding it on to the wiper arm broke. probably could have replace the clip for pennies but figured i would get a new wiper anyhow.

The pack advises that you clean the screen before each journey, use the wiper dry (to recoat the screen with silicone) occasionally, and don't use it when the screen is icy.

Is this for real?

Ah yes - didn't think of that  Also now wonder whether it will be too substantial against the small screen, and block too much visibility. Will update once I've tried it :)

It was replacing a 22inch curved PIAA. With the car living outside, and being used everyday, the silicone effects didn't last that long - amazed yours lasted 2.5 years :o Can't be a daily driver surely...

Yes :) Although the new one has slightly different wording - it is advised that the screen is cleaned as often as possible. The rest is also included - you should run it dry every now and again to recoat the screen in silicone; and you shouldn't use it on ice since it may damage the blade

Ahh ok, cant really see the point TBH I have the S2 arm and std blade and I cant fault it, it clears the screen perfectly. What more do you need? :)

Have them on all my cars, fab and well worth the extra (or less if you buy the Vauxhall part!). Love the beading and the fact that in rain, I only ever clear occasionally and other cars are on constant wipe and I can still see better than then. Nah nah na na nah!
