Come on guys and girls, there's nowt wrong with liking accelleration. I can totally understand Ollies point. Our car looks like a junior supercar with mid engine, all alluminium chassis and sensational handling. So you'd expect it to perform like a junior supercar. I think that's why Vauxhall brought out the Turbo to give the VX power/accelleration/speed to match its looks and to help differentiate and lure people away from choosing Elises or other sports models.

What i would say about the n/a is that if you go from driving a hothatch or as in your case an rx8 it will feel alot quicker in the vx even if you arnt going any quicker!30mph feels like your doing 50mph!I actually felt intimidated when i first drove an n/a,feels like a proper sports car, very low, clunky gear changes,sh*t visibility out of rear and side windows!Takes some getting uesd to.Go and test drive a few and you'll soon realise if its the car for you or not.

I hope that neon remark is not u insinuating I am a chav - just because I like the feel of acceleration. If it is, very immature, if its not, my bad and I appologise.

Yes, immature comment I am afraid.........

/hangs head in shame/

Just the thought of worrying whether a Clio will outpace you. Forget the other cars on the road.

what's a Scooby? DW1-ur rich with the mini supercar. A major part of a sports car is the acceleration along with the look, low ride and handling

Doing 0-60 is great if you want to knacker your engine mounts. Off the mark the NA is reasonably quick but plenty of other cars are just as quick. The Turbo is in a different league on this front if acceleration is what you are after. Both the NA and Turbo will leave most cars for dead when you encounter a roundabout or a few bends.

Well I can give some feedback of where my VXT fits amongst hot hatches etc and other 'fast' cars as I've owned and driven them... here are my own mini league tables:- Acceleration/speed ---------------------- 1. Impreza WR1 2. VX220 Turbo 3. Renault 5 GT Turbo (180bhp) 4. Clio 172 Cup Handling ---------- 1. VX220 Turbo 2. Impreza WR1 3. Clio 172 Cup 4. Renault 5 GT Turbo Looks/appeal ------- 1. VX220 Turbo 2. Impreza WR1 3. Clio 172 Cup 4. Renault 5 GT Turbo Cost/Maintenance (higher = cheaper) -------------------- 1. Clio 172 Cup (circa 36-38mpg) 2. VX220 Turbo (circa 32-33mpg) 3. Renault 5 GT Turbo (circa 30mpg) 4. Impreza WR1 (circa 22-25mpg - £50 tank got me 200 miles!) Comfort/gadgets -------------------- 1. Impreza WR1 2. Clio 172 Cup 3. Renault 5 GT Turbo 4. VX220 Turbo (The seats are comfy etc, but I recently did a 2 hour drive and found the harder ride bad on my lower back, and it actually has less in the cockpit than my 18yr old Renault 5 Turbo!!) All in all, out of all the cars listed I would choose the VXT anytime, it's great looking, plenty fast (maybe not the fastest (in standard form)), amazing handing, and cheap to run in comparison to similar performance cars. It's definitely faster than my 172 Cup was (at any speed), but not quite as quick as the WR1 (but not by far, maybe a Stage 2 would be on-par??)...

My 17 year old Elan can easily beat my VX in a straight line even with its' front wheel drive but round the corners its a different question. On an A to B the VX is defo quicker which is what matters frankly IMO.

He said he wanted a fast convertable.

If acceleration was not important to people there would not be all these stage 1,2,3... upgrades available.

I came to the VX from a 450BHP cosworth and in comparison it is slow at all levels BUT......................... Handling, Handling Handling, is what its all about. I got fed up with Vxs and Elises driving circles around me on track days. PLUS it does look cute :D
