Where did you mount the shift light?, does it look ok? any pics? ;)

It on the top of the dash, extreme right and fairly discrete. On the road I find it only comes on in 2nd and occasionaly get the first light in 3rd. It's more for use on the track. I'll take some pics later.

Sorry to hear that. :( FWIW IMHO the gauges were largely a waste of money and the Shift-i is only of use on track.

I kinda know where you're coming from there thumbsup (especially with that bottom 'guage' - watch stopped working VIX?? :D :P ). I also take your point about that not being the best location - having dummied it up in my car with a convenient piece of cardboard my left arm is going to pretty comprehensively block the guages except when changing gear.

Having said that, I'm still going to stick two guages in there  . I'll pop in a boost guage - mainly for diagnostic use anyway. It's not one I think I'll look at all the time - only if I think there's an issue (in which case I'll be waiting till I find a nice straight to remove one hand and take a look anyway). Second guage will be a combined oil pressure & temp which tbh is the one I really want. After much debate I'll be going for a spa-design digital unit - I know you can't read the actual digits very well when driving - but they do come with user customisable warning lights. My thinking being that I can set the warning lights to quite conservative levels - they're bright enough that I'll spot them out of the corner of my eye anyway - and if I see a light come on I know it's time to come in (or pull over sharpish!).

All pie in the sky at the moment though - feeling pretty skint right now and if it's a choice between 2 guages and a couple of trakcdays (which it is!) I know which will win :)

The clock thing was largely because it's useful to have a clock, especially when on open pit days I have no idea how long I've been out and my watch has slipped halfway up my arm and is under a glove!! :P Supercharge gauge was meant to be useful and is a bit easier to see and keep an eye on the boost. If I do get an oil pressure/temp gauge then the only place as far as I'm concerned has to be that central dash position - unless the warning light is otherwise in line of sight. I think Steve G said he'd seen someone with the Shift-i light flat on the dash so the light reflected off the windscreen. Something similar for an oil warning light might work. chinky chinky

Sorry to thread hi-jack but kind of along the same lines as some of the previous posts....when ordering the ScanGauge II from the US at the following website (as the UK supplier 'aaken' now appears to have disappeared or changed), does the connector provided connect straight up to the OBD2 port on the VX? I'm looking to order one shortly :)

Just found these people, who seem to offer the ScanGuage II for £116. Or try these guys.

LOL - for the very same reason I've been known to go out on track with my radio on but turned down just so I can see the clock
