The one on ebay for £xxxx, sounds too good to be true at that price even if it is a cat C.

Welcome to the forum. Dont buy a VX without an expert on VX220's stood next to you. Well done for trying to find out the history on here, this forum has some of the best car/internet detectives I have ever seen and have had some impressive results in fishing out the bad ones/sellers.. Read the topic on the VXR from Imran, perhaps some one could post ashley a link. Post your location on here and Im sure someone will be local to come with you for beer money.

I had a quick look back through the forums looking for info on this one. A very creative user name of Lightening No80 or something very similar reveals it has been written off. He said hit a tree backwards, broke the engine mounts and twisted all the rear.

>>linkie<<

I think the price is just wrong. If it is actually up for £2600 then I would seriously worry.

£2600 for a VX220? I just had to Hpi it, results below. Cat B is indeed bad news, also interesting that it shows as being scrapped. Does anyone have contact with trading standards, this seller needs reporting. The Hpi report is confusing as the car has had so many plate changes, but it has def been classed as cat B on 21/09/07 and also scrapped on the same date. Hpi searches on a cars previous plates. It had the plate G9 NGR applied on 21/8/06 shows cat C on 18/6/06 so looks like was another vehicle, but does show as a VX220. It had the plate V2 CEB applied 24/7/03 shows cat C 21/7/03 so may well be another VX220 which wore the same plate. It can get very confusing when a car has had so many plate changes. Not sure about the implications of it having been marked as scrapped? Anyone?

Might be a ringer?? Needs reporting to Ministry or DVLA whoever deals with that sort of thing. Police even? Cat B's cant be bought whole only as spares (in bits)......or so I thought.

I sold a lightly damaged front clamshell through ebay to someone who turned out to be a bodyshop guy from cumbria repairing no.80. All in an old thread on here. Those pics in the add are his place in cumbria, given that the new location is in the south east id stear well clear even if thinking of buying it to break.

They have to be sent to Salvage yards who legally can only sell parts of the car!
Douglas Valley have dozens of cat B's but are only available in parts.

1. When I tried to enlarge the photos on the ebay ad my Nortons Anti-Phishing software blocked the page as a "suspicious website" (I have set the security level to "Imran" level!!) 2. The location that the photos were taken - scruffy scrap-yard type shite-hole - has definately featured in a previous advert fo a VX a couple of years back. 3. The advert has been put togather by a 6 year old. Never buy a second-hand car from a 6 year old. Buy it to break it. Don't buy it to drive it.

Yes yes yes - I've seen that background/those photos too. I remember wondering why you would have punters in the background, and pikey-looking ones at that. Will rack brain...

Why you would photograph it in front of that heap of sh*t is anyone's guess, and reading the ad makes me whince. I also got the suspicious web page alert :o but I get that quite often on here

Does the page load twice for anyone else? I thought this was weird when I first saw it! Is it possible to create a false website this way?

The eBay ad I mean
