Guys...

Guess what got in touch with the so called owner on Ebay - here is his reply: -

Hello,
I'll try to answer as many questions as I can because I know time is of the essence for both of us. I never had mechanical problems with the car, all service maintenance was made at time, it's HPI clear, have all the registration papers into my name. The price that I'm after is £2600 plus delivery anywhere in UK.
Moving out of the country and also my recent divorce forces low price sale. At this moment I am traveling to finalize my divorce papers and this is the main reason why I signed a contract with a shipping company. They'll handle transportation (50p per mile) to the buyers address and fill out the necessary forms for selling the car. If it doesn't meet your requirements then the full amount you paid will be refunded without no hesitation. If everything is as I described it, then all you have to do is to sign the necessary papers and pay the shipping fees.

mmmmmm - I smell a rat!

It baffles me why people try to do that kind of scam on such a rare, and potentially tracable car, VX's are pretty rare in themselves, yet they are scamming on a numbered edition of a limited run. Nowadays, id imagine the majority of people looking to buy a vx, will have done some homework and searched on the net about them and have ended up here, where you can generally find info on the dodgy cars! I would expect scams on mass produced, faceless cars, but not rare limited editions

You'd be amazed the amount of people who turn up here after they have bought - and seemingly on a whim for some. Partially explains the quick turnaround on some VX - particularly of late since the price is affordable, which doesn't make them so much of a risky purchase. I was amazed by a couple of new users who said they saw it, wanted a new 'sports car', liked posing, bought it. Needless to say, they're in the For Sale section as we speak...

I guess he is hoping for someone who doesn't know about VXs, to not be able to resist the seeming bargain on a flashy, fast, unusual, limited edition sexy car.

Given how long he's been trying to sell it for, I'm amazed he hasn't (a) taken better photos (B) got someone who can string a sentence together to write the ad; or © broken it for parts.

I too reported to ebay yesterday and got their usual generic response saying they're investigating. I agree it seems really stupid to be selling such a rare car in a scam for such an obviously low price. Me thinks you might pay shipping fees and never see a car. I certainly wouldnt pay for a car I hadnt seen. Its clear also that the person who wrote the email reply was not the same G wot wrote the ad innit? Word. Scott.

'G' Anyone remember that track by The Whitehead Brothers? :D

That's a good point. I was assuming that he just hadn't sold it since last year, but perhaps there is no car at all. But come one - why use such shocking photos and grunting?

Oooh look another pointless post nearer 3000 LY055SCO :P
