ive just had a thought, (vid on the way) recently if its been wet the ABS light keeps coming on, if i stop turn the car off and back on it resets itsself and all is well.. now i have installed the switch and i made sure it was on yet the light still showed as OFF (ie was lit) im wondering if my wiring has got some water in it, note; it only did this when it was wet.

the video

ive been playing with the fuses and if i take no.8 out the buzzing stops, its under B+ Services.. no idea what that means.. but only 1/2 of the lights show up on the dash.

Fuse 8 is the ECU... Or at least thats the fuse you remove to reset the ECU!

things ive tried so far... . pulled each fuse out independantly still buzzing on startup. only pulling fuse 8 kills the buzzing (ECU fuse) unplugged all lights incase they were shorting unplugged the rear part of the loom (to lights) unplugged tb turned on still buzzing unplugged coilpack turned on still buzzing unplugged abs module unplugged abs connector on the wheels unplugged altenator (not the thick red wire in the middle) unplugged washer bottle (getting desperate) checked the earth to engine thats in good nick. the fact the lights come on the dash without a key as soon as the battery is connected suggests to me there is something wrong with the ignition part.

Fuse 8 is the battery fuse, so that will be why everything cuts out.

i think i have found it. inside the clam at the passenger side there are 3 relays.. ive pulled them out and they were all full of condensation.. they are currently drying out atm without the relays in place none of the lights will come on the dash.

I'm with Vocky on this, you need to check out the relays AND holders in the boot, as you've had water ingress it only takes a small amount of water with a 12volt feed on one of the wires, then you'll get electrolis therefore fubaring the relay terminals (corosion) and causeing a short, then all sorts of strange things can start to happen! I've seen this happen within a couple of hours of relays getting wet on a boat (fresh water) and it caused all kinds of electric hell! so remove relays then remove and check over all wiring and relay termials blocks, if ok, soak in WD40 (to drive out moisture) HTH chinky chinky ha just seen your reply above!! it was'nt there when i started this reply!! lol pop the tops off the relays and make sure they are bone dry also spray wd40 in the terminal blocks (to drive out moisture)

not quite

it could be water/ condensation in the boot relays or electrical connectors

Is it parked flat or on a slope? If on a slope, park it facing down the hill. Alot of the water will run through the drain holes instead of building up by the boot bulkhead

Has the grommet for the boot wiring loom trace it back from those relays) come out of the wheel arch part of the clam?

actually it is parked uphill at the min.. so best to park it down? no the grommet hasnt come out of the back yet.. i think the water is getting under the bootseal and coming through, im just going to put some tigerseal in it and that should solve it.

Get the hosepipe out, get a friend to stick his head in the boot too see where the water is coming in. If you have 3cm of water in a few hours you will easily find the leak with the hose.
