Hi guys Got a problem with my headlights switch. The sidelights work fine, but the main light switch was sticking and now doesn't 'click' at all, so I have no main headlights. I tried taking the whole switch unti out and then swopping the fog light switch in it's place to see if that worked, and now the fog lights etc dont work when i put it back!!!!! I think I may have blown the fuse???? any suggestions anyone know how much a new switch and/or fuse would cost? cheers

I had my side light switch replaced last week as I had the same problem and the part was about £20 + VAT, I had it done for me though so they bought the part in. edit: one of the things they also checked was the connections on the back of the unit the switches sit in.

Eliz might be able to help with complete set or you could DIY it if you sort out the fuse problem.

DIY by getting this switch from ebay then swap over the cover from your headlight switch.

Clicky

Not sure what colour the switch will illuminate though.

:yeahthat:

I'm guessing that might be the problem. The multi-plugs that the switches plug into are loose and it can be difficult to get the switch properly plugged in without removing the whole bank of switches (and it's holder) and connecting them before pushing the whole bank back into the dash.

Cheers guys, so it sounds like I am going to have to remove the whole lights switch section, any ideas how so I don't break it? Also, sounds like I need to get a new light switch from VXL!

Pull off the silver/carbon fibre/fake carbon fibre/alcantara/leather/whatever rectangular bit of fascia (dash plate) around the light switches. Then squeeze the 4 bits of the switch mounting to pull it out. You will then probably notice that the connection block the switch connects to is not attached to the mounting  Tools required: Flathead screwdriver and finger tips Time: 15 mins, depends if go gently when removing the dash plate Use Autovaux or DIY, it's only plastic fantastic rubbish. Or wait a few days, I just ordered a bunch of switches from ebay so might be able to recondition your broken switch.

Mine broke about 18 months ago. I switched the fog light switch with the broken switch which works fine!
