I fitted my Tollbar Racing harness bar today. I had been warned it might not fit (it was second hand) but it did ... to within a mm or so anyway. Some awkward leaning on it whilst fitting bolts and it was in. Sounds easy, took ages! Whilst I was at it I cleaned up the cockpit and fitted a fag lighter extension where I need it for sat nav. Flushed with success, I refitted the seats, refitted the driver's one again (I'm another who didn't mark the fitting holes with pencil ) and then came to 'pop on' the Willans harness. Top mounts (bolt in) were fine. The bottom mount holes though are way too small to go on the standard seatbelt mounts. This had been my plan and I've read all about single/double sheer etc. but decided to at least start with them. I've read about the Reverie kit but £53 is rather extreme as it's more than half what I paid for harness, bar and postage! I understand there is a simple kit that converts seatbelt mounts to also accept lap belts but I can't find it anywhere. Alternatively I need some brackets that I can have welded to the subframe but, again, cannot find anything. Ideas?

That kit won't help if the holes on the harnesses are too small, as it uses the same thread size as the standard bolt - just allows the harnesses to be mounted with the standard belt still in place :)

Beat me but that is what I was about to say. I'm going to get a pic of the belt attachments - hold on a few mins ;)

OK - here is the harness. The top (3") belts I understand.

The lap (2") belts confuse me in 2 ways:

A:
What is this short second belt sewn on top of the main one with a square of metal at the end?

B: How come each lap belt ends with two attachment points? Each point is about the same size as the ones you push into the main release.

Aren't the 2" belts just there so you can tighten them :) No idea why they've used two connection points

The bits with the 'handles' on are about 1.5". The pic doesn't show it well so here is an enlargement:

The extra bit goes from the white label to the 'handle' and is sewn on for half it's length. It wouldn't help tighten anything!

No me. Now I look loser, I cannot even see how you would adjust lap belt length if both mounting points were attached to the car ...

No - it's different. After an age on Willans website I have determined that the 'handles' are actually D rings for crutch straps which pass through and then the shoulder straps go through them. My set are obviously the same but with the crutch straps binned. Here's a close up of the crutch arrangement:

My set would appear to be, therefore, something like this

That said, I still don't understand why the two mounts or how to adjust lap length.

Or how to attach them (back on topic ;))

Decided that you probably mount one only and the other is used like a buckle for adjustment. I can't find anything for sale to help me actually fit them though apart from the pricey Reverie kit ...

IMHO it's difficult to put a price on safety.

Decided I'd rather not have a hole in the floor plus spreader plate. All I need I think it a little bracket that I can have seam welded to the subframe. Alternatively a different harness termination that fits onto the seat belt holder.

Looked at 3 harnesses today and they all went to the seat belt holder. In fairness though, all 3 people had removed their seatbelts!

I meant on the harness bracket.... make the hole bigger to go onto the seatbelt mount with the MSAR kit I linked

Oh, I see ;) Is the MSAR kit basically replacing the outer seatbelt bolt with one that will properly take the strain of harness and seatbelt?

The kit is used when you ant to install both harnesses and the stock seat belts, I got two of them as the VX only has single shear mounting on each seat, whereas the Loti have double shear on the drivers side (so for a VX one kit will not do both seats)

So ... for the driver's seat only (I only have/want 1 harness) I can 1) Adapt the belt ends to have a bigger hole and install the MSAR kit; or 2) Adapt the subframe with Reverie kit or similar Have I got it right now? ;)

I don't see how the reverie kit will help, it will still use the 7/16" bolt
