If you get snow, let us know. How much, where and if it settled. When any heavy falls come over the next few months, we could track it across the country.

Look at you getting excited about snow! Sorry to disappoint, but we live on the south coast, we don't get any real snow anymore! :( Just a little flurry every now and then, maybe some ice.

Yeah, tell me about it Dan, we never get any real snow, but then the UK in general doesn't get much. Although the first Sunday in April last year we had loads!! It just didn't last much beyond lunchtime!!

528 line = snow I have been told by my weather experts that for snow conditions you should look for what is termed the 528dm line ( thats deci metres , or height where the air pressure is 500mb ) , this will give a good reliable idea of snow would occur.

looking forward at the 36hour met office projection, the 528 line moves much further south in to the channel

How does that work though, because the air pressure at ground level certainly not for most of us, doesn't get anywhere near as low as that, forgive me, I'm confused.

its the location at which at 5280meters the pressure is 500mb, at sea level somewhat more ( but still low enough that air temperature has dropped substantially ). Ie. watch out in higher places like the hogs back at guildford ( around 150meters ), where air temperature would be colder.

Snowed pretty heavy at Oulton Park at dinner time :( Didn't really settle though as it was too wet. I left early because of the weather and about 10 miles from the track the sun came out and it was sunny all the way home :(
