I've started writing the instructions, 63 steps so far and there are so many on there that are quicker said than done and I'm sure I'm only about half way there!

spoke to a good friend of mine if he was prepared to take the task together i might scare him :D with too many step lol

How reliable are the courtenay sc conversions? There seemed to be a lot of breakdowns last year, I think belt related. Is that all sorted now or are the sc conversions a littl iffy. Norwich is a very long way from me, and the thought of having to keep return isnt appealing should I go this route. Martin s

Mine was done over 3 years ago and not missed a beat over many many track days. My ommission from last years national was drive shaft gaitoe related.

The belt issue affected 2 or 3 cars i believe and is now sorted. Give Jon a call and he'll talk you through all the development stages and the past problems.

Dead reliable again now. They've re-done the auxiliary belt routing which has removed the issue of the belts getting to hot and brittle, and then snapping.

I think mine was the last to be done (last March) before the couple which had belt failiures. Mine has been fine. IIRC Jon reckons the manufacturer changed the spec of the belt and as a result it had reduced tolerance. They've now rerouted the belt to reduce heat build up and have not had further problems. As PaulCP says, check with Jon at Courtenay if you're concerned. chinky chinky

I was under the impression it was the belt spec that changed, hence the problem but as other said that was only 2-3 cars and I think there are over 100 conversions out their in the UK and Europe with no failures so far.

yeah the belt rubber compound changed last year (not courtneys fault), so any new belts or conversions got too hot. Any conversions now have a different belt and pulley setup (with less contact area) to reduce the heat generated.. All seems good so far :)

So how much is just the kit??

I don't know exactly, in the region of £3,300 less 3 days worth of labour then plus a bit more to cover mapping time I guess.

But you said in the post "price fully installed is £3,300 inc VAT"
HMM Whats what now?

Mine was one of the "problem" cars, but I'm happy to report trouble free motoring since the re-routing of the belt. All sorted as far as I'm concerned.

£3,300 inc VAT for the stage 1 kit fully fitted

Obviously less than that if you could fit it yourself :P

I already have a 100 cell cat, we didn't get time to fit the piper manifold and Courtenay want me to run the car as a "stock stage 1" for 4-5 weeks at least to confirm everything is ok. It was faultless through a Walshy 4 person day yesterday :)

Someone has a pic/illustration of this "re-routing" ?

Being one of the first SC Conversion to have been done, I feel anxious !

The isolate problem was only due to a particular belt spec, all the early ones are fine and running strong.

I tried that last year, I refitted it the next day

I could hardly breathe in my garage due to the fumes from the petrol tank :beat:

So I would advise to leave it alone thumbsup
