I have managed to sell my little Vindicator Sprint Kit Car at last and am now the proud owner of a yellow VX220 :)

Welcome Along! chinky chinky
what spec was your sprint running? Any pics? Its an interesting looking car...

Hi there! Thanks for the welcome :)

My vindicator was brill (i've actually had 2!) both running on 2.0L pinto engines... so pretty quick! I've attached a couple of pics of both sprints!

Ames x

Blimey, the VX will feel like a luxury motor after the vindicator!

Indeed! I will feel like I have died and gone to heaven... doors on a car - whats that all about??!! He he....

Liking the side exit exhaust on the yellow one thumbsup

Did you build them yourself?

Thanks! The exhaust was a bit of a pain though as it was on the drivers side which meant you burnt your leg when getting out of the car if you weren't careful!!!!

Afraid I can't take credit for building them myself - I wish I had... but unfortunately I have to confess that I am not particularly mechanically minded!!! They were definitely fun to drive though!

Hi there, glad to see another new owner with a yellow NA like myself. Looks nice...shame the numberplate is going, I'd have quite liked that!

I used to have Tiger Cat E1 with a Toyota 4AGE engine on twin 45 dellortos, so the VX is a tiny bit slower, and more refined, but I'm still loving it. It's nice to have doors and a roof that actually stops (most of) the rain coming in.

Enjoy.

Hi there! Thanks for your message... Yellow is definitely the best colour :) Do you have any pics of your NA? Yeah wasn't quite sure about the plate - at first I thought it was cool but when I found out it was going I wasn't actually too dissapointed! I am hoping to get a cool plate from the DVLA - but its pot luck really!

Oh wow - I like Tiger's - I wanted one of those before but I think I have had enough of the kit car game for now! I have had too many instances of breaking down in the middle of nowhere and going to the garage and trying to get the car out and it not starting!!! Definitely looking forward to the luxury of the VX (with the added power)!!!!

The Tiger definitely had a bit more go then the VX, although top end speed was worse as poor aerodynamics. Appalling fuel economy with the dellortos too. used to brake down a lot though - one engine died because the wrong dipstick had been put in the engine (either by importer of the engine, or by the person that finished the build when I got stuck), and the other kept having the woodruff key popping out as the front pully kept coming loose. Luckily the engine was 'safe' so I never damaged any valves. Also, even with weather gear on, if you went through a puddle you ended up wearing it! Don't have any pics of the vx while here at work - I'll post some when I get home tonight though if I get time. Mine is yellow, but has Vauxhall NA wheels painted black, and has a dark coloured windscreen surround. Also got red brake calipers which stand out nicely. Aside from that I haven't had funds to make any other changes yet - only had the car since December time.

Hey there! Yeah I had similar probs with my vindicators.. I used to get so frustrated when they wouldn't start and I couldn't go out and play! Also found it was an expensive hobbie as I had to keep paying mechanics to fix them! My NA has also got black wheels now :) they look greatin contrast to the yellow :) looking forward to seeing pics! Oh and where did you get your red calipers? I am trying to get some bits and bobs to smarten up the interior but just waiting for my funds to recover!!! X

Hope Photobucket posted pics work ok on here...they used to on the Cliosport forum...

Kit cars are so good when working, but so annoying how often they break. Should have got a Westfield or Caterham - suspect with their better quality they break less- but then they should for the amount of money they cost.

Black wheels on a yellow VX are a must - also think the darker windcreen surrounds help with the yellow/black theme. I painted the calipers red myself, although I think it was after these pics were taken. It was a real pain because the front brake calipers are quite complicated....if I ever get the time/not needing the car for a bit, I might remove them and get them powdercoated.

The interior of my vx is ok, but nothing spectacular. I'd rather spend money on tuning/mechanical bits the interior - it's always going to be fairly basic. Want some more top end power after upgrading the heater pipes and headlights. Feel the need for some more top end go, and a louder exhaust (although not too loud).

Hey! Thanks for your message.. Have read previous forum posts.. I have to say that I am more than aware that this is not a limited editon vx so I didn't pay limited edition prices! So far I have had great service from pure lotus so no problems there either.. Only thing that concerns me is the intimation of previous cat c/d damage coming up as hpi clear.. I have been told there is no previous history of damage on the car - is there any way I can check this (preferably for free?!)

Thanks for all the info..

I assume you have done an HPI check right? If you haven't then get one done - it's peanuts compared to the amount of money you are spending on the car itself. Don't know what else you could do to check really. To do it online you really need the numberplate, and the chassis number at the minimum. Only thing is you probably need the orginal numberplate rather then the personalised plate that was on there - assuming the '666' one was personal. Also check it against the database held on this forum to see if it is mentioned on there. Joe

Hi Joe,

Thanks for this - I have been shown a HPI print out by the garage... which states the car is HPI clear... I do know the original veg too so could probably do a check myself... How do I find the database on the forum? Can't seem to locate it!
Thanks!

Hey guys! Thanks for all your messages.... You'll be pleased to hear that I collected my VX yesterday and got him home safe and sound in one piece (after driving 165 miles back from Yorkshire with no heater!!!!)... Yes unfortunately I discovered about 10 miles into the journey that the heater was not working and let's just say yesterday wasn't the warmest of days!!! So when I finally arrived at home I was officially like a block of ice! Nevertheless I wasn't very impressed to say the least... I have had some harsh words with the dealer and we are hoping to get it sorted ASAP! My partner has managed to tweak it a bit so I think it now works (but is stuck on hot!) - it appears that the heater knob has jammed and the gaitor underneath had seized (probably cos it had been sat at the dealers for a while)! Anyhoo - other than that all seems well (oh I also need a new windscreen wiper - anyone know where I can get one? As halfords etc don't stock them... I think I may have to go straight to vauxhall but if anyone knows of anywhere else I would really appreciate it!) - I am absolutely loving my new baby... loving the speed, power and raw drive - plus the envious looks from passers by!!! All I need now is some bits and bobs to smarten up the interior and I will be away.... :) I even took the car to sainsburys today and managed to fit a whole trolley load of food (in the boot and in the passenger footwell)!!!! So was pretty chuffed with that... got a couple of odd looks/comments from people as I was packing my shopping into the beast which was pretty funny! Anyhoo... for those of you who fancy a nosy - here is my new baby.... pic attached! Didn't make it to the midlands meet today, but hoping to make the next one... weather permitting! Hope to speak to you soon... Love Ames xxx :groupjump: :groupjump:
