If you ordered and bought a new chassis from the manufacturer, would it come with a chassis number? Are the chassis numbers not alocated to a car in the process of building it? Im thinking they may have ordered this chassis for a car they were repairing for insurance maybe (insurance paid for it) Then instead of fitting it, repaired a damaged one instead? Not implicating anything, just thinking out loud of a possible scenario that could lead to a brand new chassis being offered for sale.

thats a very good point, you would think it would need a log book though, as its the structure of the car? although, if you were to re-shell a damaged one the you would need a chassis with no numbers, so you could transfer everything over to the previous ID...

god knows!! only real way of getting (a probably useless) answer would be to give Vauxhall a ring....

Plans did have a chassis a while back I think it was for the the VXtrack car they were going to build. Phone Graham and see if he still has it Crawley not being too far from them it may add up.
