According to Wiki,

Aluminium will melt at 660 degrees C

The video on CMS's website shows that the manifold will glow red

The temp this happens to stainless according to Wiki is 580 for visible in daylight, and dark red is >700 degrees C :o

Won't cracking be more of an issue as opposed to melting?

These are a few of my 2ubular 3" system...

Secondary Silencer...There's room to increase the size of the first silencer substantially on mine, which I may have to do...

Nick,

I will let you know how good the modified 2-11 rear box performs.

Paul,

The heat generated by my S/C exhaust has melted away the clam around the exhaust tip & bubbled the paint above the exhaust tips & that's with only 250 horses...

I did wrap my manifold, but that just transferred a more intense heat further down the exhaust, but have since removed it to try and allow some cooling to take place in the engine bay area as my car has had the boot bulkhead & major holes cut into the rear. It also has no silencer heat shroud & I am also not running with any plastic wheel arch liners....I know when I upgrade to the Harrop & my new Vocky fettled engine, it will be a challenge to remain reasonably quiet & to allow enough cool air through the bay. I will probably have to incorporate some enlarged air ducts in the undertray. I have gone for a single exhaust tip as I now have a supertrap to bolt on to my single (un rolled exhaust tip, which I requested) as a final measure if required. I've not had to resort to it as yet!

Well, it's probably safe to say that I was the second loudest car on the track over the weekend with my hybrid/development Piper system. Luckily it was France, so they weren't bothered. But pretty sure I'd have had no chance on a UK track, unless it was a 105dB/test day. :( Sounded epic in a couple of tunnels on the autoroute and the Dartford tunnel though. :D

It'll never melt as it's the pump return pipe.

Have put a few more miles on it today, it has quietened a little. There is quite a large variation under load/not under load. I would guestimate it would have no trouble passing any static tests.

Could you explain what the benefits of the 3" system and manifold on a s/c car are over a Milltek 2.25" exhaust with OEM manifold. Is it just more power? Mine is running around 245bhp with the Milltek and OEM manifold. cheers Steve

The 3 inch is really for those who want to allow for going over 300 bhp up to about 400bhp The limit of the miltek as about what you are running now it chokes over that, If you just replace the manifold and exhaust system you will get about another 20-30 bhp. techieboy would run 270 if I remember with the piper. I would imagine a straight through 2.5 should be good up to say 270ish

Chris's own version of that is just under £500 Inc VAT and he says it will perform just as well.

you mean 220bhp at the fly then :P

Paul if you buy one of those sound meters from Maplins, be VERY wary of the results as they have a +/- 3db tollerance lol

Nahhh It's only +/- 1.5dB :P

Don't a lot of track organisers use the same type of thing
