I modded my airbox last week and I must say it it is noticeable....both power & sound. Maybe the power was just as my old air filter was filthy and I put Irridium plugs in at the same time-I dont know. Anyway, heres how I did it... 1:Jack up car & remove nearside rear wheel and inner arch cover. 2:From the top undo this 13mm bolt which is attached to the airbox bracket. Attached File  DSC00019.JPG   53.19KB   42 downloads 3:Undo the 4 clips which takes the top of the airbox off and remove top along with filter. 4:Discard filter. 5:Undo jubilee clip which secures airbox pipe to AMM leaving short pipe fitted to airbox. 6:Pull airbox out of securing grommet nearest wheel arch.(Pictured here looking from inside the arch towards the vent) Attached File  DSC00020.JPG   44.13KB   42 downloads 7:Remove rest of airbox through arch. 8:Remove plastic pipe (The one which is cracked in the pic) Its cracked as I broke it while removing it. Attached File  DSC00017.JPG   44.86KB   43 downloads 9:Remove this pipe from inside the lid. Attached File  DSC00018.JPG   50.18KB   39 downloads 10:Refit new filter. 11:Re-assemble.(Remember to fit the bottom of the airbox before attaching the lid as it will NOT go back complete) 12:ENJOY. Whole process should take 40-45 mins. Hope this is of help. Cheers, Danny.

:yeahthat: I have it too, as done by a previous owner, and was just yesterday wondering (again) what C's do - whether it's just holes/trumpet or both (or anything else). I love hearing the whistle of the turbo more, but I really loathe that bass tractor/diesel racket on acceleration

Where's the holes????

I was told NOT to drill holes & also read on the forum somewhere that people advised against it.
Why the holes then and where? Im interested.
Cheers,
Danny

11:Re-assemble.(Remember to fit the bottom of the airbox before attaching the lid as it will NOT go back complete)

Yeah, it will. Takes a little bit of wangling but it goes back in ok as a complete unit.

Also, I never have to remove any nuts to get the airbox out? It just pulls free of the push grommets and comes out.

Why wangle & fiddle putting it in in one unit???? Its quicker like I said.
Just undo the nuts to remove which takes 2 minutes!!
I just like things to be done properly I suppose. :gayfight:

Both trumpets just pull out but from memory there are retaining clips. You certainly shouldn't need to do any cutting. thumbsup

I'm probably in the minority with my thoughts but the noise change was too minor for me

With the engine making 200 BHP I doubt there are any gains, but on an engine making 300 BHP I think there are some proper gains due to the increased air demand, perhaps 2 to 4 HP.
