Can't remember exactly what way they adjusted it, sorry, but it was visibly out, and apart from a squeeking on start up for a few minutes its all quiet now. Martin s

The squeeking on start up is terrible now, but once warm it goes. If I dont drive it for a couple of days its even worse, almost like something really needs oiling? Any ideas anyone, as it would be hard to show a garage as within a minute of starting up squeeking goes. Martin s

So let me get this right. BoT managed to reduce/irradicate the squeeking and now it's back again, is that right? Is the noise the same as when i drove your car? Has it got worse? My experience of noisy belts is when they are loose but i know that your belt is quite tight. I'm wondering if one of the pulleys is not completely aligned in the direction that the belt is meant to be rotating, if that makes sense :? ie it's not a case of moving a pulley in or out but more of rotational adjustment perpendicular to the rotation of the pulley. Incidently, where abouts is the belt getting damaged? Are you in today cos i'll pop down?

I'd be very interested to know what has "changed" in the SC conversion process to cause this. I had one of the last conversions with the "old" belt (and have since had the mod). Touch wood, I have had no belt shredding and no squeeling. The next conversions which had belt problems were down to a change in belt spec (unbeknown to Courtenay). So what has changed for techieboy and MartinS to have squeeling and belt wear issues?

Since BOT aligned the pulleys the main squeeling (belt slipping at 3000 and up ) has gone, though I think it may still be lurking at 4500 up you just cant hear it clearly). I think this is something different as its only on start up. The car runs really well and there doesnt seem to be any sign of belt wear now, so its really just an annoyance rather than a big problem (I hope). I have a new tensioner here but BOT thought the original was fine, but may try that next. Am off to Abbeville this weekend so will be a bit of a test to see if the belt is ok. (I have a spare 1285 with me!) Martin s

It does seem very strange. I went from the original style pulley arrangement but after having belts break on a regular basis changed to the new pulley - first with a 1300 belt which was really loose, then to a 1275 which is really tight. Never had the belt slip under any circumstances. I know this may sound strange, but have you considered the bypass valve. Just thinking that under idle this valve should recycle the pressure created by the supercharger rather than build up when not needed. I can't help think it's something that's making the supercharger difficult to turn. Do you now anyone well enough to swap the supercharger as a test?
