Mmmm..personally I think this is a little generousI've got the sports exhaust, add a cheap induction £60, AMD remap £300, remove the pre cat (free if your'e into DIY) and you have 170+ BHP. - thats 16% hike in power from standard.

Normal remaps offer between 7-12 bhp but with these figures, you're expecting more like 15-20 bhp from a remap to achieve the 170+ mark...without Cam work and the rest, I think you'll struggle (IMHO).
Courtenay reckon you'll see about 30bhp increase with their CS3 package which includes full exhaust sys inc. sports cat (not just back box) + Cams, airbox mods, filters & remap.
I don't mean to question you P11 COV, if you have this then lucky you, I just don't think 170bhp is the normal return from just backbox, remap & induction

Don't forget he has the pre-cat removed as well. I would say performance gains to be had from an aftermarket centre section are roughly 70/30 attributable to pre-cat/main cat. So removing the pre-cat gives you most of what you'd get from a sports centre section anyway.I don't mean to question you P11 COV, if you have this then lucky you, I just don't think 170bhp is the normal return from just backbox, remap & induction
This is based on nothing more than my hunch and opinion but looking at results people have had over the last year, there seems to be little difference in performance gain between a pukka centre section and DIY pre-cat removal. The only actual difference is the less restrictive main-cat but I would say that the gain to be had from this is small in comparison to the gains to be had from pre-cat removal.
Again, this is purely my interpretation so I could be wrong - but looking at RR figures from the AMD day and so on would suggest this.
To test this theory, I should have Piper backbox and pre-cat removed in time for the next RR day on my NA. Does anyone attending the RR day have a full Milltek on their NA without remap, induction etc to compare?

I think Thorney said that the main cat is the most restrictive part of the existing exhaust system by some margin. Thorney - have you got the figures for pre-cat/standard cat/sports cat from AmD?
I'd be very surprised if a pre-cat removal saw even half of the 9-11bhp claimed by the Milltek.

I know that's been said, but I'm just going on what I've seen and picked up over the last year.I would say performance gains to be had from an aftermarket centre section are roughly 70/30 attributable to pre-cat/main cat

For instance I remember I think PaulB acheiving similar sorts of gains with full Miltek on his NA (before he started his more recent serious upgrades) as a few other people with just pre-cat removed - around 155bhp. These were all tested on the same RR day at AMD under the same conditions etc.
