We are there for the circuitdays double header in april just the 8th. 400 bhp and I'll be amazed if I drop sub 8.

8.59 in a 2.2 wasn't bad!

One thing I do do is go out there and then BS about the time which I think is very common!

I’ve never done the Nurgergring. Somehow I think I’d need way too many laps to get familiar. So, I keep putting it off.

However, this guy knows his way around...

It's a good investment to run a few hundred laps on the xbox to save you at least learning where the next corner will go.

170 corners is a bit expensive to learn on the fly.

if i was to use a sim to learn the ring, especially the ring i would make sure it had laser scanned data.

Sims are good to learn the lefts and rights but it doesn't in any way prepare you for the elevations/compressions/off cambers/surface changes (hence the trail of destruction on every TF day)

If you rock up at the ring and go away going under 10 minutes thats a realistic "target" I think if you are doing sub 9 minute laps there's way to much risk taking going on.

If you are looking at lap timing I would do a trackday it's madness timing on TF there are too many novice drivers and traffic to safely lap at speed. I did over 100 TF laps before I ever got the lap timer out and 150 odd in total. Did my lat TF day 3 years ago and will never do another it's trackdays only now.

My favourite personal stat from a decade of going to the ring is that I have an impressive lap to crash ratio of 150 - 0!

My friend who goes to Nur on April too, made 8.35 on N/A with ad08r on TF, its a very good time but can faster with no many risks if you know your car. Not a ton of laps, maybe 20 +-.

Interesting point: ad08r pressure bar cold 0.9-1.1 on April, 1.6 hot

If rise to +1.3 bar cold, at the middle/end of the lap the car becomes very tricky and has a lot of oversteering. 25ºC  on sunny day

Maybe Spaniards are crazy but with SC a 8.00-8.10 wouldn´t be hard

Very important to me its to warm brakes before entering to ring, in the side straight you can accelerate and brake (taking no risks and doing bad things) if there´s no traffic, simply to warm tires and brakes, go to Gas station of Dottinger Hohe and back to track. The first braking point can be delicated if you go with cold brakes/tires.

Aero its important too. I went with any wing/spoiler and at Sx, Bellof S, and many others you feel like there´s no back end of car.

Yes I was amazed the difference a splitter and spoiler made. As you say that unloading at the start of SB is very scary in a standard car the aero with the spoiler just keeps enough pressure on the back of the car to get rid of that sensation. Also there's a bump under the Bilstein bridge that upsets the standard car at 135 with a splitter it is planted.

8.35 I would say is a crazy time for an NA on TF. Accident waiting to happen.

TouristenFahrt (tourists drive)
Basically everyone with a legal road car can buy a ticket and have a go, resulting in a mix of actual tourists, mental locals driving weird stuff, and some wankers who think they have entered a race for just 25 euro.

A dangerous mix, compared to a regular trackday in my book.

A couple of videos founded on YT

7.54 on 2,2, 6 speed. looks a neutral/understeer setup

7.33 on a tubby with a more familiar setup to me, oversteering setup.

2nd video is impressive...
I watched the first one only 30 seconds. Stupid image inclusion makes it too small when watching on a phone.
