Feel for you mate. It leaves a horrible mess where the shell impacts on the paint. Some chavs egged one of my cars a few years ago; made a right mess, the car was immaculate but after the incident respray to get rid of egg marks! I got them a criminal record and got a bit of money off them!
But I would just shoot them now if you can...stop them breeding!
do i need to wash my car mate now do you reckon or will the egg come off tomorrow

You may find it's only scratched the surface in which case T-Cut (or meguiares Scratch-X would be better) may work, otherwise it may need a call to chips-away
lol cheers mate im a bit better now, and i hope its just scratched the surface maybe all the wax i put on has helped lol

do you reckon i should wash my car now or will it be fine tomorrow as i have a powerfully jet wash.
Nooooo
Never ever jetwash your VX. It there is even the tiniest of pin pricks in your paint, a jetwash will get water in there and under the paint then it is welcome to bubble world.

Wash the egg of NOW. I can't believe you're even wasting time asking the question when you could have already cleaned it off by now and not risked letting it set (which is when it will really start fcuking your paintwork up).
right just done it now mate the egg has come off the only reason i was leaving it was because the police are coming to have a look tomorrow, and was looking at the damage with a torch and looks like iv got a hammer and hit and its like gone in a cob web sort of look and feels ruff with my fingers. if it needs respray will they just do the little patch or will the hole front clam have to come off.

Something i found which might help
"If you’ve ever been victimized by neighborhood pranksters or vandalism, you’ve likely had your car egged. While discovering an egged car is nerve racking, trying to remove the egg and yolk creates further irritation. The key is to remove the egg stain shortly after the
incident. However, if the egging occurred overnight, or while you were out of town, the yolk will crust, making removal twice and hard. Here are a few tips for removing egg from cars, without ruining the paint.
Step 1: If possible, do not allow the egg to sit on the car for an extended period, especially in the sun. Every second counts. As soon as you discover the mess, begin steps to clean the vehicle.
Step 2: Using your hand, remove all traces of the egg shell from the car.
Step 3: Once pieces of the egg shell are removed, clean the egg and yolk from the car using a soft towel. It is important to remove all traces of the egg shell. This way, you avoid scratching the surface of the car.
Step 4: Create a mixture using 1 part water and 1 part vinegar.
Step 5: Soak a towel in the mixture, and place it on the egg stain. You may also spray the mixture onto the car using a spray bottle. Allow the towel to sit for at least 15 minutes.
Step 6: Remove the towel. Dry the area using a different towel.
Step 7: If necessary, repeat steps 5 and 6.
Unfortunately, if the egg was not immediately removed, there may be damaged to the car’s paint. Review your insurance policy or vehicle warranty to see whether car egging is covered. If not, be prepared to pay a hefty price to have portions of the vehicle re-painted."
cheers for that mate il go back out no and have a look again to see if its all gone but there wasn't much egg shell just yolk and i just got some warm water and a sponge and wiped it off.
