Jimmy, you can borrow my ball joint tool if you want. A good tip for removing bushes (if you are chucking the old ones in the bin) Is to get a smallish drill bit and tap a few holes in the bush. This ruins the integrity and from there they are real easy to push out. You won't even need a vice. You will need a bench vice to push the new ones in tho.

- and I needed another pair of hands to get the front lower rear bolt done up - the one in the footwells)

I tried the cable tie a spanner to the wishbone method and it was ok. Bit of a faf though. Turn bolt in footwell a bit, get out of footwell, go check the spanner is still in place, go back into footwell, repeat until bored or muscles go into spasm. 24" extension and no footrest in the way would of helped a lot.

I've spoken to sj sports cars who have given me a good price on OE bushes and ball joints. Can anyone confirm that OE S2 Elise bushes/ball joints fit the VX220?

handbrake cable uses 16mm P clips :)
driveshafts require a deep reach 30mm socket thumbsup

top tip;

use a 5mm drill bit and put four holes into the oem bushes - north, south, east, west sort of pattern.

do not drill into the wishbone :rolleyes:

then the bushes will easily come out with a small knock from a hammer/drift.

really wish I had thought of that idea at the first rather than the last bush :beat:

Top Tip Vocky, I must remember this.

Jimmy,

Just fitted a full set of Superpro bushes and really really pleased, great upgrade from standard and not that much more expensive.

They should do. Bit more of a pain in the arse to fit than the poly bushes and not sure whether you might need to get replacement snubber washers to use. If you were using the poly or Nylatron version, you can get away with using an extra "castor" washer but that might not be a good idea with the standard bushes, as they're rubber. S2 ball joints are fine. thumbsup

I've actually forgotten.... :rolleyes: It was cheap..... £9.80 for one type £11.summit for the other

£210 (inclusive of VAT) ish for a full set of OE Lotus bushes to fit an S2 Elise (£ 258.69 Inc. EU VAT on EliseParts).

If they defo fit the VX, that's a good price!! I can pick them up direct, so incur no postage!!

the poly bushes are so easy to fit, but not sure if they are any better or perhaps worse than oem in the long term :unsure: My new poly bushes should last me at least 10 years due to only doing 1500 miles a year :blush:

They're more expensive than the Elise Parts ones, unless you can negotiate a good deal on postage :)
