bttt  :)

Noticed a ticking that seems to come from the driver side "ear"  :D  Any other late VXT or R's with this issue?

Cheeky,

I posted a thread about a ticking noise coming from the driver side right rear on my VXR a few weeks ago. However, the tick on mine increases in frequency with wheel speed as opposed to engine revs and stops all together when stationary (before anyone says, I've already checked that it isn't a stone in the tyre :) :) :) ). I am due to have it looked at by Slaters in Colwyn Bay (amongst other warranty work) but have been away working and haven't had the chance as yet. I'll post back after its been in.

A few days ago my VXR started making a ticking noise from the drivers side of the engine - only at low speeds though. I took it to my Vauxhall dealer to have it checked. They said there was nothing wrong but they'd lubricated the alternator belt because it was a bit dry. Now it sounds like a demented budgie on speed - all the bloody time!!! :beat:

Not sure if this is the problem I have with my car or not. Was suffering with a screeching noise from the driver's side. Took it in for it's first service (53 reg VXT) at Inchcape Exeter and they said that the cambelt and roller needs replacing. They didnt have the bits so did the service and "tweaked" it and have got rid of the noise. I am getting Cambelt done by Gurneys in Newbury this week (I live in Reading but visited parents for xmas in Torquay). Inchcape didnt seem too concerned however Gurneys were more concerned and said that it needs doing immediately and driven as little as possible in the interim. Is cambelt the same as alternator belt? (sorry if it's a dumn question!) Cheers Rob

Cambelt drives cams and waterpump, alternator is driven off separate belt

Car went in today to Gurneys (Newbury) for cambelt replacement. Just been told it's not the cambelt but the alternator belt (drive belt? somthing py belt all the same thing apparently). Upshop of it is that i'm told it's not covered by warranty as 1 month out of 1st year cover. Told him that it's a common fault but he said Vauxhall won't touch it. Only £60ish but annoying.

I had mine replaced at 18,000 miles / 18 months no probs. I thought most mechanical components not subject to wear and tear (i.e. clutch, brakes etc) were covered for 3 years Neg
