After being warned off these discs I think im going to go with the standard discs with Carbon Loraine pads all-round, but before I do does anyone know if there are any better discs out there over the standard ones? chinky chinky

This is the bit where you talked perfect sense. £200 for pads and approx £80 for standard discs. Add the decent fluid and you are sorted!

Think i'll be taking this option now. Got my 5.1 fluid and braided hoses coming on Monday from courtenays so…

Is Vauxhall the cheapest place to source the standard discs from and does anyone know the part number?

Not Vauxhall IIRC.

Camskill and Autovaux both do a good price on standard discs.

Also your local motor factor can be cheap but you need to be able to say what discs you want ... not VX220 but some other mass produced car which is identical - can't remember which one though

Smart decision BTW ;)

Edit: Vauxhall part number.

Same as Vectra discs (think post 2001?). I went onto www.buypartsby.com and paid £60 for 4 Quinton Hazell discs. Braking with them has been spot on, they are a well respected aftermarket parts supplier and simply don't see the need to spend any more.

Used Autovaux thumbsup for standard discs and Mintex 1144 pads. Work a treat together on road (and fast road) conditions.

Or £173.69 for the lot from Camskill + Delivery at £9.99 (Plain discs and Mintex 1144 pads all round)

Just waiting on some prices for fitting (as I know I would fcuk something up doing it myself).

That is unless there is a very generous offer from someone who knows what they are doing to fit them for me in either Wakey or Newcastle for a few cases of beers / several bottles of wine. Posted Image

Well discs and pads ordered from Camskill yesterday - hopefully delivered either today or tomorrow Posted Image

Decided to stick with the 1144's to start with as the rears are currently APEC so hopefully some fresh discs and ordinary 1144's should see an improvement and then if I still want more to try the 1155's or Carbon Lorraines afterwards so I can get a genuine comparison.

Also ordered some anti-rattle buffers for the new pads as well as the caliper rewind tool from EliseParts which arrived today. Just hoping that the offer of a hand on Saturday still stands. Posted Image
