I am very happy with with my gaz golds and could not justify spending double on nitrons. Steve.

Gaz on mine rode beautifully at 400/550 (as good as standard Billies, better on bumps) and never bent any wishbones or whatever even at low ride heights. They are not Nitrons but perfectly good - not shite as said above.

A serious question here, and I'm not wishing to be abrasive.

How much £££ did you spend on replacement springs and labour/advice at Hofmanns to enable you to make that statement?

I'm sure they will be fine if you take it to an expensive specialist who knows how to set a car up, but most of us don't have the time/money/inclination to have that sort of work done.

All I wanted was a replacement set of shocks that 'worked'. Mine don't do that very well. Over time the rear has got progressively more 'wobbly' and the fronts knock like a $2 hooker after 18 months or so. Fine, if they are in warranty (I don't think they are anymore) GAZ will replace them....but that's of no use to me as I use my VX for work on a daily basis, and losing the car for a week simply isn't an option for me.

^^^^ Just my POV, perhaps 'utter shite' was a tad harsh ;) the one's I have fitted are far away from a product that I would recommend but with better spring rates who knows? I'd still have an issue with the 'if it doesn't last we'll replace it' attitude though.

Jules may I suggest you give Warren a call at GAZ and have a little chat... Went there today and they cleaned up/dynoed my front dampers and (aside from being a little grubby) were exactly as they left the factory in May 08. The rears are being left with them as they are in need of a little TLC but I cannot fault their service. Also got a sneak look at the monos.... nice and light.

I've just ordered a set of Gaz Gold Pro from Ebay. They should be delivered somewhere next week, I'm waiting for the sellers' advice regarding spring rates, I was thinking somewhere in the region of 475F/525R (I track a lot) but that might be too stiff in front? I'm waiting for feedback from the seller (absolutely shocks), once the rates are decided he'll ship them. I can't wait to try them out, I've done the last trackdays with tired and leaking Sachs suspension, and as a consequence, was losing interest in the car, I'm sure this setup will revive things!

Will do.

I guess I'm just being a tad bitchy out of pure frustration of things going pete tong after only 18 months.

Having to send them/take them back will probably cost me more in wages than the shocks did in the first place, as for me having no car pretty much equals no work.

Hey ho, let's have a chat with Warren and see what he suggests thumbsup
