Had the airbag warning light on for a while now and finally got around to ordering an OP-COM which has arrived today. Plugged it in and got the following: 00031 - Driver Airbag Squib Circuit High Resistance Present. From other threads on here it seems that replacing the squib is the solution of choice but I'm unable to find if this is a specific VX squib or do ones from other vauxhall models fit? I'd rather not had over £50 for a new one to vauxhall if I can avoid it so ebay maybe the solution but none there identified as VX ones

Same as Lotus, Lamborghini and a few others use iirc. Due to the size it fits in small (momo) steering wheels nicely. That might be the whole airbag module though, the squib might be far more generic. Please correct me if I'm wrong though

I bought a Corsa B one from fleabay for 99p. A bargain I thought, although it was the same size and nigh on identical looking, it won't clear the fault. It also had a different part number which may or may not be of any significance. I've replied to your PM yaaan :)

Sorry to bump this. Did you get this sorted packs? Did it need a new bag or was the corsa squib faulty? Cheers

I suspected my 'squib' so I pulled it apart and I seriously cant see much to go wrong with it, its just a roll of wire like a tape measure and there was no resistance when I checked it so I think it is OK. On another note surely the squib is the explosive/firework part that fire the air bag off, definately nothing like that in there.

If you have OPCOM you should have a function where you can switch the car over to a non-airbag type setup. Ie Pre-Tensioners ONLY. Shouldn't care about the squib at all then thumbsup.

Well the part known as the "squib" is actually just a coil of wire that lets you turn the wheel while keeping the connection to the bag. This part isn't actually a squib like you correctly say the squib is built in to the bag.

I took my airbag out a while back and turned the ignition on as I was testing the wiring to find a different fault. Obviously didn't realise this would permanently activate the airbag light! Will I have to go to Vauxhall to get this cancelled? I have one of those bluetooth OBDII readers but it says no fault codes detected and the clear fault code function won't clear it :(

You need an opcom to reset airbag lights. Or take it to vauxhall eek.

JJJ- a Squib is an explosive so mounted in the airbag. The bit under the dash is just the control unit.

Good luck doing that!

I wouldn't just assume that they'd know what to do!

An OP-COM may not be sufficient enough to clear the airbag fault. I had to get my airbag ECU flashed.

Wow that sucks. I guess it's designed that way for safety but flashing the airbag ecu...really! I'll just put a sticker over the light. Fingers crossed the airbag will still work.

Indeed it is.

Back in the very dim and distant past I worked for a film and theatre lighting and special effects company in London and we used to use lots of them for gunfire (or at least the bullet impact) effects.

When the airbag light is on, the whole airbag system is de-activated so definately won't work, plus an MOT failure (unless they don't notice the sticker). I had the same issue as packs, just get the airbag ecu flashed was about £35 by a bloke from ebay
