Had the airbag warning light on for a while now and finally got around to ordering an OP-COM which has arrived today. Plugged it in and got the following: 00031 - Driver Airbag Squib Circuit High Resistance Present. From other threads on here it seems that replacing the squib is the solution of choice but I'm unable to find if this is a specific VX squib or do ones from other vauxhall models fit? I'd rather not had over £50 for a new one to vauxhall if I can avoid it so ebay maybe the solution but none there identified as VX ones

Well the part known as the "squib" is actually just a coil of wire that lets you turn the wheel while keeping the connection to the bag.
This part isn't actually a squib like you correctly say the squib is built in to the bag.

I took my airbag out a while back and turned the ignition on as I was testing the wiring to find a different fault. Obviously didn't realise this would permanently activate the airbag light! Will I have to go to Vauxhall to get this cancelled? I have one of those bluetooth OBDII readers but it says no fault codes detected and the clear fault code function won't clear it

Indeed it is. :a Squib is an explosive so mounted in the airbag.

Wow that sucks. I guess it's designed that way for safety but flashing the airbag ecu...really! I'll just put a sticker over the light. Fingers crossed the airbag will still work.
