Had a diagnostic on it and its code suggests there is a transponder problem, weird as car initially started ok but it seems that it had now lost signal from the transponder.

Maybe a loose wire. Anyone got any other ideas, remember car initially started and then cut out?

I had the same issue a couple of months ago, car would not start, tested the starter relay etc.. put OP-COM on and it stated immobilizer fault. All lights worked etc..

I brought a new main battery and hey presto everything was fine. I am not saying it is definately the same fault but if I had the same issues again the battery would be changed straight away!!! worth a try??

EDIT: just re-read your first post, as you had to jump start your vx in the first place, I am really thinking battery

Not tried changing battery yet. Do you really think this could be the issue as I need a new battery anyway. If it's not the battery does anyone know how nuch a new ECU will cost? Anyone else had a new ECU fitted. Danny

I am fairly confindent it is the battery, especially as you say, you need a new battery anyway. Definately worth a try. Like I said, when my batterry died, I was getting immobilizer fault codes (errors) from the diagnosic laptop. Something to do not enough volt to power the immobiliser unit.

Second hand ECU is about £250 but then it will have to be reprogrammed to your immbolizer and transponders unless you get one with the immobilizer unit and transponders and replace them too.

Hope you sort it soon, please let me know how you get on

Hi, I'm french (sorry for my language) and owner of an Speedster 2.2 (VX220). I don't know if this can help you, but I was front of untimely stopping of engine then Starting was impossible during sevceral minutes and after motor started as usual... This hapeened 3 times... I've searched on the website www.myspeedster.ch and found the reason of my problem: it was the fuel pump! I've ordered one on Elise parts: http://www.elisepart.../169/fuel-pump/ It will be put in place on friday with a friend of mine who is an mechanic. I think you have the same problem on your VX220. Regards Jean-Yves

OK, all sorted now, battery replacement was all that was required for ECU respond, after reprogramming all was fine. Now back out in my car and will not neglect again by leaving in the garage for weeks on end. chinky chinky Especially cheers to Danny for suggesting changing the battery first. Dan

Hi Guys, I have a similar problem - I left teh cr for a month and it wouldn't start. I had just bought a new battery before I parked it up and thought it would be ok. I'm thinking the memory for the radio drained the battery. Anyway - jumped started the car at the weekend and now it starts no problem - then after 10 or 20 mins t looses power and cuts out and the Immobiliser ligth comes on. It will restart but the light stays on until i switch the engine off. Any ideas?

Take the car for a long run and get it up to temperature. you probably have a bit of unburnt fuel on the sensor.

Had this happen last time my car was garaged over winter.

oops just read your full message perhaps this isn't the problem.

just an idea but if your battery is weak low on :groupjump: amps the engine management system can throw a wobbler, because the starter draws a massive drain of amps when starting there is not much left for the ecu etc, had this on numerios vectra b's and astra g's with the same engine ecu set up. try a new battery or one lft connected with jump leads etc to rule it out. thumbsup
