I had new rear tyres fitted recently at bracknell tyres and i think they have put on the wrong tyres i asked for KU31 and they even asked me what car it was for.
The rear feels unstable and on the motorway even worse as the rear keeps twitching. it feels like the rear is slightly snaking. Going around corners the tyres are rubbing on the inner arch. as i have never used kumho before i am unable to see KU31 or KH31 on the tyre, can anyone confirm from the picture below?

Yep, they are not KU31 . They have an asymmetric pattern = KH31 http://www.kumhotyre....php?tyre_id=15

in the dry, just about any tyre should feel fine.... I reckon its the release compound making them slippy at the moment. Not the point of you paid for KU31's (unless the KH31 is better and mroe expensive ) oi steve, answer your pm's :P

I took it easy for at least 200 miles as i thought that might be the problem, but there has been zero improvement so thought i would check today if they were the correct tyres. has anyone else had snaking problems before when putting new tyres on? especially after scrubbing them in?

Good news! Only snaking I had was when I hadn't setup the Gaz ride heights properly. It's fine now though!

Dont expect a massive difference straight away, just make sure they put the right pressures in and give it a few miles to wear the coating off chinky chinky

when I had some super buper correct dot code Bridgeys put on, they were "entertaining" at best for the first few hundred miles  Same for the KU31's and now I'm down to their last legs on the rears its got entertaining again

Grip is ok, it just feels like the sidewall is flexing too much. i can even shake the car by putting both hands on top of one of the wheels and applying pressure back and forth the car wobbles. tyre pressures are correct as i asked the fitter what he put in and he said 26psi. i double checked my self when i got home and they were correct

How does the fitter know what the correct tyre pressure is for a KH31 on a VX220? Surely if the tyre walls have more flex in them you need a higher tyre pressure than standard?

I'd check the toe in, could be play in your track rods.

I am assuming that he thought he was fitting KU31's as he has fitted tyres to vx220's and elises many times and knew where the jacking points were.

no problems with the previous tyres on and the geo was only done last summer, i checked all ball joints and seals last month for play and wear as the mot is due soon.

I was going to post "you have checked the tyre pressures?" , but just read you have. Looking at the rears, they do not appear to have XL markings=extra load , different ply sidewall, like the KU31 have.

I had it on my T1R's. They were quite new and i was using them on track at Brands. When they got warm the car became very unstable. After that though they were fine although MartinS who was following me on track at Anglesey and he said the rear end of my car was shuffling about all over place but frankly i wasn't aware of it or am i just used to it
