Thanks guys for sticking up for me thumbsup Andrew's post above is stating the bleeding obvious, but other opinions are available  Anyway Systemg and VXChick, I see your names aren't down for Anglesey, whyever not? It's one of the best TD weekends you can do. I'm missing a double header at Snet and it wasn't a difficult decision (although it may have been if it wasn't Snet  Southpaw, I'll tell you all you need to know about the Toyo's or PBMW. PBMW is very hard to beat as a package. I'm no fan of endurance racing as an alternative to sprints, you miss the excitement of the standing start and the the need to overtake at every opportunity is replaced by a need to drive steadily.

We are part of the BaT team so will be there regardless thumbsup We're running the trackday on the Friday as Jonny will still be in Europe and then we're assisting in our normal roles on the Saturday for the National B)

same here are there any comps we can enter a vx in I was thinking a harroped 380+bhp car and be competitive. Was thinking of building a pure race car with more than one driver involved. is it possible?

I would depend on the regs really but 380bhp should make a VX competative, although it would prob need some aero mods.

Some quick thoughts and I'll try and dig out some info:
1. Isn't someone already racing a VX and does a blog? If so what series? [Edit: here and here]
2. Wasn't there a mid-engined race series? Plans Motorsport may have been involved? [Edit: looks like their was a Mid-Engined Sports Car series in 2005 but can't find anything else. Plans are/were selling a car clicky (pdf)].
3. What's happened to the LoTRDC chaps who had heavily modified cars and now can't use them following the rules change?

You are walking into a minefield mate. Randy and his Europa, together with the Setters' in Randy's old Exige (bought for £40K ish) run in the GT Cup. This is a series for old playboys, mainly in GT3s, 360s and 430s etc. They are on the second rung of UK motorsport (in my classification - second rung is some totty, top rung is grid girls) Most entrants will be fully supported, with race transporters, awnings, motorhomes etc. Big money. The guy who posted about his VX ran in a cheaper series, but you only have to compare his posts of DNSs and DNFs to appreciate the huge efforts Randy puts in to make a reliable car. Running at 300+ HP is unrealistic without (finger in the air) a £20K budget.

Yeah I've been reading up a little and I fancy PBMWC. Cost effective, robust etc... More than happy to start a team with some others on here.... But if you were to race the VX nick don't forget Jimmy

Mr P.... Why did you opt for a 318i instead of the 320i...? Which would you suggest a newbie buy..? Buying tips?

Having flicrked through the Euosaloon's regs a Vocky style NA may be more competative as it would fall into class C rather than Class A.

But as mr. P says there is alot of work/money needed to make a car competative not to mention the expense of fixing body work on a VX.

Far too much to say on that one. It will wait until Anglesey.

What about an arrive & drive Caterham R300? Or similar but slightly cheaper in the MR2 Championship? Although availability in both may be a little limited already seeing as the season is truly underway... I have a few details for both series if interested :) Also if starting out or thinking possibly about delaying until next season do the full Caterham Academy? From just over £18k will get you a car, licence and a season although it excludes consumables and any damage sustained. Many drivers we've supported have done very well and progressed to mugh higher levels of motorsport thumbsup No closer racing than in any of the Caterham series thumbsup

This man speaks alot of sense, obviously. Even without the motor homes it is an expensive game. A HUGE step up from the Elise Trophy/PBMW type of budgets. I am working alongside both Randy and Setters in the GT Cup thumbsup

Nick, if you are serious about entering a VX into GT Cup (or any other series) drop me a PM thumbsup
