My rear caliper has seized so I will need new rear pads and discs , bu I was thinking of just doing all 4. I have 1144's on and there is prob a fair few miles left in them but will 1155's be noticeably better i.e. is it worth swapping all four rather than just two? I really wanted to try rc5+ this time but the added cost of the caliper has left me sticking with the cheaper option. Or would you recommend just doing the back for now and then doing all round rc5+ when the fronts go?? Not sure what to do now, had it all planned out until the seize!!

44's good 55's great anything carbony is epic. tbh probably no harm in putting 44's up front and 55's on the rear as a temporary measure. Mind you FAB sold a set of fcuked looking 44's recently, and probably charged more than a new set  so there is hope for you to sell.

1155's don't have the initial cold bite of 1144's and I found them a little lacking untill they got a little bit of heat into them. I ended up taking them off and selling them after 6 weeks. Went to SBS pro tracks which were awesome, good all round pad with better stopping power than the Mintex pads, excellent wear rate and a good price. Just recently fitted RC5+ pads. Fantastic stopping power, better than any pad i've used before.

They're definately better with some heat in them but i ran them everyday and didnt find them much worse than 1144s from cold.

Agreed, I have 55's on at the moment and I dont find myself screaming like a girl when I first brake on a cold winters day

They are still better cold than OEM/Greenstuff ever could be.

My carbons were similar, not epic when cold, but certainly much better than most

I have never used CL5's, but I have used 1155 and as others have said they are a great pad and work ok from cold. They also have a good life and if fitted correctly do not squeal too much. Steve.

My car is running 1155's and find them to be very good, I've not tried the 1144's but the previous owner had and much preferred the 1155's.

Can't comment on 1144's, but I changed from OEM to 1155 and even on light braking nearly ripped my face off in comparison. They are immensely better than the OEM bite, even without them being properly bed in yet, and should have done them sooner.

Right well I think I'm going to go for the 1155's on the back and leave the fronts as they are. Definitley want some rc5+ ones sooner rather than later but they can wait till next summer now :( £98 for discs and pads from camskill sounds like a good price to me. Anywhere else cheaper? Cheers for the advice Matt

I consider 1144s the ultimate road pad. I followed opinion and now have a set of 1155s, they are not as good for road use, instant retardation and general modulation are less good. Whichever you decide, don't forget Camskill's deal, £200 delivered, pads and discs.

I have asked this in another thread as well but thought I'd stick it in here as it's a bit busier. I've got a refurb kit on order so will hopefully be able to have a go at weekend, but are there any short term fixes I could try between no and then? Would just giving them a good squirt of WD overnight be a possible help? The caliper seems to be sticking intermittenly at the moment, so the wd might save the disc from terminal damage...

:yeahthat:

1144 are better for road, far more progressive, but having had them wilt badly on track I now run 1155 all the time because I CBA to swap back and forth.

Only if your wallet has too much cash in it and you have trouble walking straight due the to extra weight in your pocket.

They look good but don't add much if anything apparently.

Took off my 1155 at Le Mans and left then in the pit lane before they killed me. Utter shite IMHO; much preferred the 1144 but will stick with Pagid from now on.

They just didn't work for me. I had a good firm pedal but it felt like Ice Mode had kicked in and whenever I needed brakes, they simply were not there. First two or three laps were OK then the pad just heated up and ceased to work.

Put the Pagids in and sorted, no issues at all.
