Does anyone with a vx that has been s/c have the new 0-60 figures? Just wonder how much difference the s/c will make. Really fancy having it done, have they still found the cars to be reliable after the s/c? What about m.p.g. I imagine its going to suffer, but any idea how much? Courtenays seem to have a very good reputation, has anyone had theirs done there? Just trying to get some info before taking the plunge.

0-60 is kinda irrelevant unless your into mashing gearboxes and clutches. The most important figure is an increase from 150-250 bhp and a virtually flat torque curve. MPG suffers but not much until you start booting it, 2-3 mpg less on average i'd say. Reliability is generaly good so long as its done properly and you don't go over 260bhp on standard rods. Courtenays have a good rep although I cant comment on their work personally.

loads of info around on this, I would suggest a good search. Lots of people have had there cars s/c at Courtnays, me among them infact 2 superchargers  Great company Fantastic after sales support. Most people don't car about 0-60 times but they are quick. I would suggest you get a ride in one but be prepared that once you do you will want one. You at the National?

No I can`t make it, I am going to a wedding. But a passenger ride sounds like a top idea. Thanks for the advice.

My mate on the way to Le Mans, not exactly driving slowly managed 35mpg in my car, fuel is not really an issue. It's fantastic, do it!

F'in fast is the only performance stat you need. Reliability? Its not great really is it lets face it. I'm being very careful with mine. Don't rev it over 6 ish and am religious on allowing full warm up/cool down. Issues from what I've read on here are straight piston failure, Oil starvation on track, and the latest one's been a gearbox failure I believe. Given how little trouble you get from a standard car it is a consideration. My theory on it though is that even if any of the components breaks it will cost under a grand to fix even if it was the engine. So balls to it.

Mmm. I am certainly tempted, the only thing that I am unsure of is the noise. I have only heard it on youtube but it does sound a bit wearing. Watched a download of a supercharged vx at the Nurburgring and it was a hell of a whine. Maybe its not so bad when you are actually in the car? But that aside it is certainly very appealing.

I think thats a bit unfair, I've never heard of a piston failure, although there has been a rod failure attributed to too much power. Oil starvation and gearbox failure aren't going to be related to the conversion. That said you are pushing the standard mechanics considerably more than standard and in many cases right to the limit of the design tolerances so its going to increase the potential for problems. Any aftermarket mod has its risks.

The noise is great, it isn't as loud as the vids would have you believe and is only audible at high revs when giving it some right foot. Its not audible at all in normal driving conditions.

In terms of reliability it's pretty bullet proof. Lack of oil has nothing to do with the SC. To date I'm not sure there has been a single failure caused by the SC running within the safe power range?

Do you think the stage 1 210bhp conversions is likely to be more reliable than the stege 2 250bhp conversion?

Only if the conrods in the stage 2 aren't safe, otherwise they're the same, if not the stage 2 being safer with a cooler intake temp?
