Do you think the stage 1 210bhp conversions is likely to be more reliable than the stege 2 250bhp conversion?

Only if the conrods in the stage 2 aren't safe, otherwise they're the same, if not the stage 2 being safer with a cooler intake temp?

:yeahthat: rods upto 260 ISH some run more

Not sure where this unreliable thing has come from? A lot of sc owners use them as daily drivers/only cars I'm sure people wouldn't bother if they were unreliable Don't forget the M62 is designed for the z22 :)

Reliability? Its not great really is it lets face it. I'm being very careful with mine. Don't rev it over 6 ish and am religious on allowing full warm up/cool down.

Issues from what I've read on here are straight piston failure, Oil starvation on track, and the latest one's been a gearbox failure I believe. Given how little trouble you get from a standard car it is a consideration.

What is it with you and your continuing insistence that the SC conversions are unreliable? Why would you bother getting the conversion if it's so inherently unreliable and is just a ticking timebomb?

To this date, to the best of my knowledge, there is still only one UK car that may have gone pop due to running more power than was sensible. Looking at the remnants of the piston that failed, it's quite possible that even that engine was a suffering with another issue unrelated to the conversion. There are dozens of the conversions running around in the UK and Europe and have been for years without any issues whatsoever.

Who's recently had a gearbox failure that's been directly attributed to a supercharger conversion?

I'm running 260bhp and have been for a year now. No problems at all to date and only had to top up my oil once thumbsup With my sticky tyres, close ratio gearbox and a quick gearchange I reckon I must be pushing sub 4s to 60 but I don't do that too often... I have too much respect for my clutch and box. In gear acceleration is immense! :) PS I do 70 miles a day round trip 5 days a week thumbsup

The only reason the S/C would be unreliable, is if it was poorly put together, or if there is already an inherant problem within the engine that the extra power and driver enthusiasm forces to fail quicker. In actual fact both mine and James' cars were saved of timing chain troubles because of having the S/C done, and we BOTH had the newer style jets as well. Bolt has sheared off his, and mine had nearly snapped the top orange runner in half.
