Thought I would add to this rather then starting a new thread,
I was going to clean them all out at the weekend after speaking to mangham54 on the phone as it cane back today leaving me limping home!! I think I stupidly cleaned out the wrong cable after reading this. Is it the small 2 pinned cable at the back right of the engine bay that needs to be cleaned out? And the two under the passenger wheel arch ( which I still haven't got round too)? Thanks
J
The one on the throttle body I seem to remember has about 8 wires running into it... Sorry if that may not have come across on the phone on Saturday. Basically, where the inlet manifold is goes onto the top of the engine, there is the throttle body and there should be a relatively chunky plug that plugs into the side of it. That is the first one to do, but the two, as we discussed on the phone, that are behind the coolant tank (or in front of it when looking through the wheel arch) are supposed to be the worst - and were the trouble causers on mine. Cleaning them with WD40 seemed to do the trick for me.
Hope that may clear any confusion. If not, you got my number, give me a call tomorrow lunchtime.
EDIT: not WD40, but actually electrical contact cleaner
, Doh!
