Drilled through, according to the instructions from Sector111. If I remember correctly, the longer bolts would not have fit the existing threads.

Passenger seat bolt just requires the right tool for the job. My drivers seat rocks on the winky wanky runners. The seats have been out more times than I can remember and the bolts are still tight. Can't see an issue tbh

Interesting that someone would doubt the safety aspect of a seat mount in a production car. The allen head bolts are heat tempered so I wouldn't change them personally for something else HOWEVER. drilling through the floor.... what makes you think the nut on the other side has a stronger thread than the tap in the floor? The only reason you would need a spreader plate or washer would be if you are putting the mount bolt through a the floor rather than the chassis rail. Also in an accident most of the forward force is concentrated on the upper seat belt mount in the roll bar, not the lap strap and if anything would fail first in the force I would bet on it being the seat belt buckle before the bolts. Don't waste you money thumbsup

has the drilling through method been signed off as safe.... doubt it very much. So should you have an accident and the seat fucks off into the atmosphere you will look more of a ***** infront of the judge than if you only had 3 OEM fittings in place. Good luck with that

Just out of interest, why is there only three bolts holding your pax seat down?

One of them is too difficult to put back in. Also, if I was involved in an accident in the VX where the seat bolts would come in to question then I'm pretty sure that I would have been going fast enough to kill the passenger irrespective of the seat bolts anyway.

:o not going as a pax with you.... :P

not particularly

The allen head bolts are heat tempered so I wouldn't change them personally for something else HOWEVER. drilling through the floor.... what makes you think the nut on the other side has a stronger thread than the tap in the floor?

IF I was going to do this I would use a 12.9 grade bolt (same as the factory bolt) and a grade 12 nut (same strength as bolt)

Also in an accident most of the forward force is concentrated on the upper seat belt mount in the roll bar, not the lap strap and if anything would fail first in the force I would bet on it being the seat belt buckle before the bolts. Don't waste you money thumbsup

I suggest you go and look in your car and see where the other end of the upper seat belt fastens to.

Notice the lack of horror at the seat being ripped out. Driver went sideways out of the seatbelt and hit head on left side of windscreen. Click... http://www.vx220.org...not-very-nice-p And... http://www.vx220.org...-still-being-st

I'm very calm dear... I dont see why youve managed to convince yourself that there is an issue with the bolts, when there clearly isnt. maybe you need to calm down :P

How ridiculous! The car would be taken off the road if there was ever a safety issue like this. What a joke

It amazes me that any individual, however well qualified, is arrogant or stupid enough to think they know better than all the safety testing applied to road vehicles and 16 years of manufacturer experience of the system. A potential Darwin award winner.
