If you have a crash then they 'can' check the car. If the damage is large enough for an assessor then they could check the ECU but its pretty unlikely.
In the catestrophe situation, ie you kill someone and they void your insurance then you're open to a civil suit and potentially crippling yourself for life.
Sorry to sound so doomlike but its not worth it.

I agree with Thorney completely. The insurance company I'm moving to when I get Regal to do the stage 3 mods will only charge an extra £60 a year and that's for K&N, plugs, complete exhaust change and re-map. It's really not worth taking the risk for a fiver a month or so.Sorry to sound so doomlike but its not worth it.

What insurance company are you changing to out of interest and how old are you?
Mines up for renewal soon and I am also considering the Stage 3 mods.
cheers,
John.

The quote came from Adrian Flux. They quoted £420 fully comp with class 1 use, or £484 with all the stage 3 mods from Regal. I'm 47 (Aarrgghhh! ) with 19 years no claims, no convictions etc but at the rate I'm going I'm expecting a speeding conviction any time now!
I did fill in a quote on line with Footman James to see how their discounted deal would compare but have heard nothing for just over a week.
