Since it wont be pulling much current its probably doable to fit a relay to the 12V line to only connect to the main car supply when the engine is running so it gets a charge but then prevents drain down when off :)

Is this battery just for the 'secret button' or does it serve some other purpose?!

Imnotworthy

My back up battery for the secret button has been dead for ages. This is now on my to-do list for the weekend. chinky chinky

82 weekends later and I finally got round to doing this. I now get a satisfying 'click' when I hit the secret ( :ninja:) button. Wonder how long it will last.........

And just to add, I still don't understand why the button is such a secret. For the button to actually do anything you have to have the key fob and to press the button on the fob and the secret button at the same time.

Just looking through the wiring diagrams and noticed this backup battery does have protection. Its charged through fuse FR1 and just after it in the diagrams is a diode V25. That should stop the backup battery draining should the main battery flatten.

I just did mine today. Took 20mins. Fyi this is the battery I fitted, it was £24 delivered and was exactly the same as the one that came out: https://www.tayna.co...yuasa/ytx4l-bs/
