I only put v-power (or similar) in my vx

I do the same with mine. thumbsup

My standard NA feels horrible with V Power in! The engine is so smooth running V power that it bores me.

My Stage 1 Tubby varied from 20mpg when driving hard to 40mpg when driven sedately on a run. So I averaged just over 30mpg chinky chinky

Call me a doubting Thomas, if you like, but does putting high octane (or whatever it is) petrol in a stock Astra 2.2 engine actually make any difference? Really? I put the cheapest crud I can find (well, still more expensive than liquid unobtainium) from Sainsbury's and it seems fine.

Does it feel faster?

TMS research into Tesco 99 suggested there was something to be gained from higher RON petrol.... though he did remap it to take the most advantage he could.

I use V-power, not for a power / smoother reason... just that the cleaning additives are meant to be better therefore helping reduce losses... how much benefit it actually makes is an open debate.

Over 50 is good going, I wouldn't say it's not possible on a decent run though. Ben, the engine is quite boring isn't it! I haven't heard a good argument for putting a higher octane fuel in except for where you have a high compression ratio or a higher than normal boost pressure - then it is a must. Nick

Managed my first £60 fill up on the way to North Weald last week. Most painful bit was I had to stick another £40+ in the tank on the way back. Long range fuel tank + (just off) motorway service station V-Power = ouch

TMS research did show that Tesco SuperJuice was great. I also recall that the Tesco logo was blazen all over their VX

As I said before... Drop that to 70-85 and it will go up remarkably... Be interested in seeing what 55mph would get you!

Until I replaced my Lambda sensor last weekend I was getting 135m between the refill indicators (about 28-29ltrs) Since then, I've not reset the ECU or anything (so it's still adjusting), but I'm on 140miles and have about 12-13ltrs left. thumbsup Hoping to get back to the 180-190miles on the next tank.
