Cool. Looks an interesting car. Funny that you wanted a black one and ended up with white, which is argubally as far from black as possible. Looks nice though mate, just the seats as yous say that are a bit too ......

Yeah, I think I like the black more, but I equally like the white/black theme, which will just take me a little while to get this how I want visually, but then again I'm not massively fussed on it. It was mainly that it has a brand new engine and the paintwork has VERY few marks on it at all!

Spent some of the day sorting a few niggles.

Masked off and sanded down/filled/sanded the rear lip spoiler as it has a bit missing and was finished in matt black (badly) so I aim to repaint that soon.

Wired in a fan cut-in switch into the centre console as a temporary solution until I get the top hose and adjustable fan controller put in.

Posted Image

Bruised hands and many cuts later and I de-lensed and masked up the light units for spraying tomorrow.

Slightly more productive day today but spent some time with the family for father's day and was the old dear's birthday yesterday.

Masked off the rear clam to get the lip spoiler sanded down, painted and clearcoated.

Also masked off all the grilles on the front mouth/bonnet/bootlid/side vents/exhaust vent and gave them a coat of black hammerite to freshen them up.

While the spoiler was curing finished off the lights and re-sealed.

Finished spoiler off and left it to dry before running over with a fine grit sandpaper and machine polishing. It's not great, but it's ok for a DIY job.

Finished off for the day with a quick (and I mean very quick) clean

P.S. Photobucket seems to be having issues atm so pics might not load immediately.

Good looking project car. B) I'm liking the white. thumbsup Would it not have been alot easier to remove the spoiler for painting? You could have done it in doors then and had a lot less chance of bits sticking to it etc, it's only two bolts on the underside!

I also like the vx in white. Looking good. I take it with you saying hammerite & the small amount of masking on the front grill that you brush painted this on? I was thinking about freshening mine up in the same way but couldn't make my mind up if I should use a spray can or brush it on from a tin. How has the finish come out in the flesh? Looks good in the pics. chinky chinky

Better than leaving it with no paint

It's mainly down to how hammerite dries, if you go over the wrong section again it can smear it and not look quite as shiny as the rest, but you really need to be like 6 inches away to see anything.

Looking good so far, I think if it were mine I'd remove the door handle pulls and wrap them in black vinyl or try to remove the white paint, I think painting them black again would chip too easilly. Just a thought, maybe you like them in white.....

Thanks for the reply. Will give it a go when I get round to it.

Cheers.
