Sorry for the newbie question but what does this EGR cheater achive?

After removing the valve the ECU has a fit if it can't figure out what's going on. So the cheater fools it into thinking there's a valve still there.

Yep very similar! However, if you apply lacquer over the paint, satin black is actually a much better paint to use, as gloss sometimes loses the colour and can create hotspots of paint as it contains a small amount of lacquer-like solution inside it. These were done with satin, for reference, as were the badges and door handles.

Did you use rattle cans or something a bit more professional? Any 2k grit sanding between colour and lacquer layers?

The place I normally go to do paintwork are a bit busy at the moment, so just standard halfords rattle cans.

A tad of light sanding between colour/lacquer.

I didn't really go for a professional finish on them, but for the £10 it cost me it will do!

Used a very mild sealant/bond, they won't come off naturally but if I need them to - they can be easily removed.

Good work Seb, where do you find the time?

It's all juggled around working 9-5 in the week, spending one day at the weekend with the girl and the other fitting in everything else in. I was outside at 9pm last night drilling bolts out and sanding down the repair areas. Not easy to actually find large chunks of time to work on it, so it ends up being the odd half hour here and there.
