It wasn't that hard because I have a laser within reach and a clever friend.

1. make cad drawing. Robert did that i 10 minutes.
2. Cut 5 rings in 2 mm stainless steel.
3. Weld the three rings with the teeth together.

4. File the teeth so they are correct length in one end and fade out to nothing in the other end. Check fitment.

5 Finally weld the two rings with a 1/2 inch ratchet hole on to the package.

We made them 100 mm on the outside wich was a little bit on the big side but we tried that because I wanted to be able to clamp the rings together with bolts in the three holes that you can see.

thats easy, don't over-tighten the lid

The main reason the lid gets over-tightened is when the lower section comes loose

I've only ever done mine up what feels like barely finger tight. It's still nicely welded together with the adaptor again now. :(

It's more like noone has ever properly tightened up the adaptor on it's own before the cap has gone anywhere near it.

Absolutely, as long as the tool will take the torque prescribed by the TIS. I can get 10mm stainless laser cut locally but I was concerned about the teeth shearing off.

The 10 mm stainless would probably do fine. The only concern about cutting that thick material is the sharpness of the cut on the downside of the part. But if you have a good 2D laser that might not be a problem. I only have use of a 5-axis machine and they have their limitations.

If you then put the plate in a cnc lathe you could form the teeth to the exact curved form they should have and not the lined form I've got.

I havn't got a clue what kind of material I used but I don't think it's something fancy.

I had considered this. The curve matches a drive key. I'd thought about cutting a ring with notches rather than teeth and press fitting some drive keys as they would be harder. If I dont need to then its a bonus! I'll get onto the cutter when I get my spare ring back.
