I've got a nut here and it happily swivels in a 6mm socket I'll try to get a photo against a ruler....

Nope from what i gather that's £1.10+VAT PER rubber bung (or £1.39+VAT from the local stealer)!!!!! So nearly the cost of the pedals to replace all the rubber bits.

I managed with a 6mm socket, but agree with you it's a smidge smaller. But luckily managed to do the job. Mind you my pedals have only done 60k miles so weren't too bad.

That is simply fcuking crazy thumbsdown

Anyways, eyeballing the nut I'd say it was about 5.25mm ish...annoyingly too big for a 5mm socket but miles too small for a 6mm. Not the best pic in the world as its cropped but I think it shows how small my nuts are

Im sensing some Lotus gimp ordered some arse sized nuts here. Like I said Im going to be buying some nylock wing nuts for peeps on here with the same issue

Thanks Christ for that, I have the same issue as Jules and didn't want to look daft as I couldn't get a 6mm spanner or socket to fit. If you suss it out, can I borrow your solution?

Is it an Imperial size?? Surely not.

Unlikely. Jules has tried a couple of imperial sockets to no avail.

On that subject, if we have imperial sockets, why can we not have rebellion sockets which are kind of the opposite size.

If I had a car I would try to fit mine, sounds like fun better do it before I fit the steering wheel back on, might be a bit easier to get in there.

Mine were fitted with either a 5 or 6mm socket. To make them fit easier, I put 2 nuts in the socket, then screwed till the first nut clasped the bolt (hope this makes sense!!!!!!!) Steve

wouldnt just a blob of sillicon sealer do the trick instead of replacing the bungs? -i have a new fond love for this stuff as it seems to keep coming in useful. :)

I managed to source some replacement nuts/bolts today, and i think I can see why a few of mine need drilling out

New bolts/wingnuts:

Comparison between heads...and this was one of them that I managed to get out!

They cost 50p each, apparently vaux charge 68p for the black VXR bolts alone. TBH I think the bloke just plucked that figure out of the air and the £5 went in his back pocket

Hopefully they fit, if not i'll have to revert back to the nylocks thumbsup

Fitted mine today. Not a difficult job. 5.5mm socket worked fine. Upside down in the footwell was the hardest part. The grommets weren't difficult to fit, just a bit fiddly. I couldn't fit the bit of plastic that goes in the grommets hole. They just fired out again, or if I pushed them harder they pushed the grommet out of its hole. Anyway, I don't think they're needed as they seem to stay in place. Initial driving impressions...easier to heel and toe than the standard, and more to the point easier to brake harder while blipping. I'm a happy customer.
