Normally its left in the garage, but were decorating the house and the garage became a dumping ground...next time though it will definitely be kept covered. Doesnt help that it pissing down right now so probably only getting worse!!!

you said its cranking so either fuel or spark problem is the fuel pump priming? if for some reason you are deaf then press the vavle on the fuel rail it will fire out if the pump is priming if it is then this elliminates fuel problem so this leaves spark either borrow or buy a coil pack or get some spark plug testers that go between the spark plug and coilpack and will light up if a spark is being produced

Thanks for the heads up, regarding the sound of the fuel pump priming im almost certain it does but the car makes all srts of noises when ou et in its hard o distinguish what is what.

I have just found a friend of a friend who has all te software and diagnostics kit i need if it gets that far, and he can re-set the immobiliser if needs be so all good.

Will check for fuel and spark first though!

You may find the whole underside of the coil pack is floating in water if parked at the right angle.... A simple blow out and hair dryer may get it going.... good luck.

Yep, I did actually work out what it was in the end. The problem turned out to be that I'd left it within sight of Vocky. :P

Tried the fuel cut off switch...for a split second it sounded as though it was going to fire on the very first crank but then nothing not even trying to fire. I am almost certain it has spark so am leaning more towards it being a fuel pressure related issue. I also pressed the valve on the fuel rail and it just dribbled out, certainly didnt fire 1m in the air as prviously suggested. Which again would point towards fuel pressure. I checked all the fuses in the boot behind the rear light and all seem well, no corrosion. Where do i go from here? Edit : Im not sure if the pump is priming the system, could the immobiliser prevent this from happening?

Lots of helpful advice in there. Plus a solution (for me). Mine's a turbo tho.

how much petrol do you have in it? might be worth putting a jerry can or two into it if it is that low and on a hill if not check the relay in the boot the fuel pump is pretty loud and easy to hear to be honest! it sort of humms loud for a 4 seconds maybe

Yeah i did, relays all look good as do the fuses but battery probably needs to be replaced so i will give that a try and get any codes read/cleared if there are any.

I just put one can in but i have noticed its still telling me it needs more fuel...so another will be put in and i will try again.

Of you have an empty tank, let the fuel system prime a few times. Turn ignition on for a few seconds then off then on again for a few times :)

2\ I bought my car as a none runner, I removed and dried the coil pack that's on top of the head, over night on the radiator. (well 1.00am as I was too excited) and it fired up perfectly.... Rain soon swamps the coil pack and it does not like any water at all..... Has it gotten wet?

I have a spare coil pack if required.... My car made no attempt to fire with a wet coil pack when I first got it...

I have this problem when I leave my car sit, water gets in, but quick way, instead of waiting all night to dry it out, just spray the coil pack and the plugs with WD40!!!!!!!!!

:yeahthat:

Works a Charm! thumbsup
