Of you have an empty tank, let the fuel system prime a few times. Turn ignition on for a few seconds then off then on again for a few times :)

I tried priming it a number of times (5 maybe) then starting it and no joy :angry2:

Just a thought but to rule out the battery could i temporarily hook up the battery from my E36 M3 and start off that? Its a fairly new battery and used daily so will be well chared. Obviously its going to be larger but will it do any harm though?

If it's cranking ok, then that would suggest there is enough power in the battery as most of the power needed is to crank the engine. If your fuel has got really low, maybe the fuel line has picked some crap / sludge up from the bottom of the tank. Possible blocked fuel filter? Have you managed to confirm there is a spark?

Will check the filter, hadnt even thought of that. I havent confirmed spark but i have checked the coils for mosture etc and it was bone dry, but i will double check. I would have to lean more toward a pessure related issue though as there is little to nothing coming out the valve on the fuel rail.

For anyone interested in knowing i eventually found the cause of my problem. As you can see from this pic the spark plug is litterally swimming, and thats after already draining half the water off!!!

This was easily corrected by removing the coil pack and sticking it in the airing cupboard over night and drying out the plugs. Then a little spray of WD40 on all the joins and everything was sorted.

It took a few mins of cranking to get it going but finally she fired.
