Was this a link to Motul 300V chrono?

Not cheap, but that's why I recommended it when it was £20 per 2 L, rather than £40. I would actually recommend using Castrol Edge if your car is sat for long periods of time without running. The signature edge component is very good at inhibiting rust.

Without full specs I wouldn't be able to recommend anything, I also have a slight concern that they don't offer a full SAPS product as there's no need for a mid or low saps product in this engine

Should the oil be used within a certain date of when the bottle was filled? Just asking as my new 10w60 Castrol edge bmw M stuff was filled on 20/11/2012, but my dad just bought the same stuff for his car from halfords and it was filled 14/09/2009  The cheeky git is trying to swap them so the Vx has the older stuff

The additives are mainly suspensions and will destabilise with time. Oil stability is only measured over 12 weeks in the industry, however commercial oils are expected to be stable for 12 months. I would take the stuff from Halfords back and get a refund.

This is one of the main reasons I use Opie oils, they sell enough for the stock to be new.

MB229.4 doesn't exist, it'll either be MB229.3 or 229.5, the former of which will have greater volatility so expect to top up slightly more regularly, had a quick search and if it's the one on euro car parts (price is the same) then the image looks like 229.3

Not a bad oil, good spec for the performance. comparable to the Fuchs titan supersyn 5w-40 I usually recommend.
